QualityStocks, RedChip, MarketBeat, SmallCapVoice, Real Pennies, InvestorPlace, Zacks, The Online Investor, StocksEarning, StockPicksNYC, StockEarnings, OTC Markets Group, InsiderTrades and Early Bird reported earlier on Stronghold Digital Mining Inc. The United Kingdom government has released statutory instrument material that represents a major advancement in the field of cryptocurrency law enforcement. As per the provided material, authorities will have the right to freeze cryptocurrency assets linked to illicit activity as of April 26, 2024, even in the absence of an official conviction.

The announcement made public on Feb. 29, 2024, delineates the revisions introduced to the “Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023.” These revisions extend authority to the UK’s crime agency, empowering it to confiscate and take cryptocurrency assets suspected of being involved in illegal activities without the necessity of protracted legal procedures.

A civil-recovery mechanism for cryptocurrency assets, requirements for exchanges and custodial services to cooperate with law enforcement by providing pertinent transactional data, and provisions for crypto asset confiscation orders are only a few of the important aspects that the act outlines. These orders give authorities the power to confiscate any assets or information they believe to be connected to or related to cryptocurrency.

In addition, law enforcement authorities will have the authority to take cryptocurrency assets straight out of custodial wallet providers and exchanges. They will also have the authority to destroy these assets if deemed necessary.

The precise procedures for destroying assets were not specified in the legislation, but generally speaking, this entails moving the tokens to a burn wallet address, therefore “burning” them, or removing them from the market.

One noteworthy clause of the new act permits the recovery of cryptocurrency assets used in illegal activity without the need for prior arrests. This is intended to prevent potential evasion strategies by criminals based overseas. The rule is also intended to help law enforcement fight crimes such as drug trafficking fraud, and cybercrime, which are made possible by cryptocurrency.

However, concerns have been raised regarding the effectiveness of U.K. law enforcement in addressing crypto-related crimes against its residents. A victim of cryptocurrency fraud who suffered losses amounting to approximately $46,000 criticized the agency’s perceived lack of adequate measures to recover stolen funds.

In parallel, the British government has expressed its intentions to enact new regulations on crypto and stablecoin staking within the forthcoming six months. Bim Afolami, the economic secretary to the Treasury, revealed during a recent cryptocurrency event held in London on Feb. 19, 2024, that the government is dedicated to completing these regulations before the upcoming election, which is scheduled for Jan. 28, 2025. Afolami reaffirmed the government’s resolve to move quickly on regulations, highlighting their practicality within the allotted period.

Crypto industry companies such as Stronghold Digital Mining Inc. (NASDAQ: SDIG) will be watching how these new regulations impact the sector and whether or not other jurisdictions adopt similar directives.

Stronghold Digital Mining Inc. (SDIG), closed Wednesday's trading session at $4.2, off by 2.3256%, on 1,007,368 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 30.891M and the stock's 52-week low/high is $3.46/$12.50.

Bitcoin mining giant Riot Platforms (NASDAQ: RIOT) recently published a report outlining the potential risks of being exposed to cryptocurrency companies plagued with instability. With several cryptocurrency platforms collapsing in recent years, distrust in the nascent crypto sector is at an all-time high.

According to Riot’s latest annual report, several risks have the potential to impact the company and disrupt its Bitcoin mining operations. These include a potential reduction in on-chain transition fees, problems in the wider cryptocurrency economy and an anticipated Bitcoin halving event in April. According to Riot, the halving event is particularly risky because it can potentially reduce mining rewards as a top concern for achieving profitability in the future.

Several collapses within the crypto sector have increased distrust in digital currencies such as Bitcoin, led to more regulatory scrutiny of cryptocurrencies and resulted in a significant reduction in Bitcoin’s value. Riot’s yearly report noted that the April 2020 bitcoin halving, a process that cuts block rewards by 50%, could threaten the Bitcoin miner’s profitability as well as its ability to attract data center clients at the institutional level.

Even though historical data shows that prices tend to go up during Bitcoin halvings, Riot Platforms says there’s no guarantee that the upcoming halving, as well as future halvings, will have enough of a positive impact on Bitcoin prices to make up for the loss of 50% of mining rewards.

Riot cautions that if future Bitcoin halving events aren’t accompanied by a proportionate and corresponding increase in Bitcoin prices, its Bitcoin mining revenue will drop. The result would be a notable negative effect on the results of Riot’s bitcoin mining efforts and its overall financial condition, the Bitcoin miner says.

April’s Bitcoin halving will be the fourth halving event since the cryptocurrency launched. Over the years, prior halving events have consistently reduced Bitcoin mining rewards as miners increasingly see on-chain transaction fees as a critical incentive. Unfortunately, an increase in fees may lower Bitcoin’s appeal as a payment option and could even contribute to a drop in Bitcoin demand and prices. Riot notes that a fall in Bitcoin demand could cause future Bitcoin prices to drop as well, ultimately resulting in a material and adverse impact on its securities.

Additionally, the Bitcoin miner said that it will have to work on mitigating issues such as slow transaction settlements and high Bitcoin fees because they have the potential to hinder the wider adoption of the cryptocurrency.

Riot Platforms (RIOT), closed Wednesday's trading session at $12.12, off by 1.0612%, on 26,071,853 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 5.142M and the stock's 52-week low/high is $5.16/$20.65.

New research has found that artificial intelligence (AI) showed a higher creativity level when competing in a series of tests against human participants. The tests, which were designed to evaluate the ability to generate unique solutions, demonstrated that AI could provide more elaborate and original answers.

This research highlights AI’s evolving capabilities in creative domains and also recognizes the lack of agency for AI and difficulties in measuring creativity. Despite demonstrating potential as a tool to improve human creativity, concerns remain about the tole of AI and its integration in creative processes in the future.

The study was authored by psychological science PhD students Kim N. Awa and Kent F. Hubert, both from the University of Arkansas. Assistant professor Darya L. Zabelina of the same institution was also part of the study; Zabelina is also director of the Mechanisms of Creative Cognition and Attention Laboratory.

For their study, the researchers recruited 151 participants to compete against ChatGPT-4 in a series of tests. Their objective was to assess creative potential at the human level, not necessarily individuals who had creative credentials. They had each participant as well as AI complete three tests: the Alternative Use Task, the Consequences Tas, and the Divergent Associations Task.

The Consequences Task asked every participant to imagine potential outcomes of hypothetical situations while the Alternative Use task asked participants to devise creative uses for everyday objects such as forks and ropes. The Divergent Associations task asked each participant to come up with 10 nouns that were as semantically distant as possible.

The answers given were then assessed based on length, number and semantic differences, with researchers discovering that ChatGPT-4 was more original than humans on every divergent thinking task. This is after fluency had been factored in.

In their report, the researchers stated that their findings had some limitations. For instance, the measures used for their research all focused on creative potential, but the involvement of creative achievements or activities were another facet of measuring an individual’s creativity. Awa and Hubert also noted that AI didn’t have agency as did the humans, and AI depended on a human user for assistance. This, they noted, meant that AI’s creative potential was in stagnation unless prompted.

Additionally, the investigators didn’t assess the appropriateness of responses made by AI.

For now, they are focused on examining AI’s future potential as a tool for inspiration or an aid in individual creative processes. The researchers reported their findings in “Scientific Reports.”

The findings of this study provide some positive feedback to AI companies such as International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) that have invested heavily in developing and commercializing AI solutions. Such a performance against humans shows that these technologies can be used for more applications.

A Jamaican-Canadian company based in Toronto and formed by Canopy Growth Corp. and Steep Hill Labs’ former employees, has completed what it asserts to be the inaugural DEA-approved export of marijuana products from Jamaica to the United States. The company, Pure Jamaican, alongside Seven-10 Pharmaceuticals, its manufacturing and cultivation division located in Montego Bay, Jamaica, dispatched a range of eight distinct tincture products and three diverse distillate products containing varying ratios of CBD and THC, according to Scott Cathcart, who heads both entities.

Only a small batch of the products was sent for DEA-sanctioned research purposes. The products were shipped to ACS Laboratory, a Sun City Center, Florida-based establishment licensed by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Florida officials and the testing facility have a tense past. Notably, since 2022, ACS has been fined by Florida regulators about three times. The tens of thousands of dollars in fines were a result of several violations, including providing misleading information on certificates of analysis and not adhering to state standards on testing procedures.

Researchers with DEA licenses have been able to obtain cannabis from a select few authorized growers since 2021. Previously, the University of Mississippi was the only place where cannabis could be obtained for research purposes, or one needed to obtain DEA approval to import from other countries.

Cathcart expressed optimism regarding the potential rescheduling of cannabis from Schedule I to III under the Biden administration, foreseeing opportunities for commercialization in the U.S. market. However, he acknowledged the necessity of undergoing the lengthy FDA approval process before the products could be made commercially available.

Despite this, he is still optimistic that the products may be deemed “nutraceuticals,” which would free them from the need for federal approval before being sold.

Anticipating regulatory shifts, Cathcart is optimistic about the prospects of Pure Jamaican products in the U.S. market, citing the company’s pharmaceutical manufacturing license from the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica and relevant certifications from Jamaica’s Ministry of Health & Wellness. However, it remains uncertain whether the Jamaican pharmaceutical license carries the same weight as a U.S. pharmaceutical license.

Presently, the company is already distributing tincture products directly to Brazilian patients, according to a recent press release from Pure Jamaican. Before establishing Seven-10 and Pure Jamaican in 2018 with Martin Shefsky, another former Steep Hill executive, Cathcart spent about five years as the chief global expansion officer at Steep Hill Labs.

As the regulatory climate in the United States evolves over time, it will no longer be newsworthy when Pure Jamaican, Cronos Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CRON) (TSX: CRON) or any other company or its subsidiary exports, imports or otherwise engages in any interjurisdiction trade in marijuana products.

Cronos Group Inc. (CRON), closed Wednesday's trading session at $1.96, off by 0.507614%, on 1,600,710 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 3.924M and the stock's 52-week low/high is $1.64/$2.64.

Traders who deal with coal from Russia believe the new sanctions the United States has imposed on Moscow will likely negatively influence imports of thermal coal from the Eastern European country to India. This, they say, is because the sanctions specifically mention Mechel and SUEK, leading Russian export companies.

Mechel is a top producer of specialty steels in Russia and is involved in the manufacture of rolled products from different types of steel. SUEK is a flagship transportation logistics company in Russia that operates its own railway infrastructure. The Russian defense ministry is one of the company’s biggest customers. SUEK is also involved in other trucking and transportation services.

Historically, Russia has been a minor exporter of thermal coal to India. However, shipments began to increase after the West imposed sanctions because of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, India has also become the largest importer of seaborne crude from Russia. The latest sanctions also include Russia’s energy production, financial institutions and its payment system.

In a short interview, one thermal coal trader from India stated that with the latest sanctions, they didn’t expect any of the major Indian companies to purchase Russian cargoes. Another Indian trader added that while coal shipments wouldn’t halt completely, people wouldn’t be as willing to bring in Russian imports. The trader added that the sanctions would also benefit other suppliers of coal, including South Africa, Australia and Indonesia.

Ship tracking data shows that in the last six months, the biggest importers of thermal coal from Russia were Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel, Vedanta and JSW Group. The three companies are yet to make any comments on the potential impact from the latest sanctions.  Additionally, evidence of the sudden impact of the new U.S. sanctions cannot be established because thermal coal cargoes take more than two weeks to sail to India from Russia.

Bigmint, a consultancy company, stated that thermal coal supplied from Russia surpassed 10 million metric tons last year, representing a 19% increase.

The Indian Ministry of Trade also did not issue any comment on the impact of the sanctions on trade with the Eastern European country. The country’s oil ministry did, however, call attention to the country’s longstanding ties with Moscow in a note last week. In addition, the ministry discussed future plans for partnerships across different sectors with the country.

Since 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, New Delhi has repeatedly demanded the cessation of all hostilities while expanding trade with Moscow.

As those sanctions take effect, they could open business opportunities for players such as Peabody Energy Corporation (NYSE: BTU) that are domiciled in jurisdictions which aren’t antagonistic to the U.S. and the West.

Peabody Energy Corporation (BTU), closed Wednesday's trading session at $26.15, up 2.3483%, on 4,673,199 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 64.848M and the stock's 52-week low/high is $17.71/$27.70.

President Joe Biden has ordered a probe into the potential national security risks posed by “connected vehicles” made in China. In a move that marks the latest escalation in a trade war between the two nations, Biden’s administration is tasking the U.S. Commerce Department with investigating whether Chinese-manufactured connected vehicles threaten national security.

According to a statement from President Biden, these vehicles are connected to mobile phones, navigation systems and critical national infrastructure. This gives the automobiles the ability to “collect sensitive data” and beam it back to Beijing, Biden said, and allows potentially bad players to access or disable the vehicles remotely.

Although China struggled to compete with the Unites States in the traditional auto industry, the East Asian nation has the largest electric vehicle industry globally. Massive government subsidies have allowed Chinese EV makers to lower their production costs and sell their electric cars more cheaply compared to Western automakers.

European Union officials have launched a probe into cheap Chinese electric cars to determine if the Chinese government is using subsidies to artificially lower prices and cut European carmakers out of the market. A Chinese automaker also surpassed Tesla as the top EV maker on the globe in the last quarter of 2023 after the Texas-based EV maker spent more than a decade at the top of the global EV industry.

Authorities in the U.S. and the European Union are scrambling to bridge the ever-widening gap between their EV markets and China. American leaders are especially keen on supporting the development of a domestic electric-vehicle industry that could eventually rival China on the global level.

Morgan Bazilian, director of the Colorado School of the Mines’ Payne Institute, says the recent announcement by the Biden administration seems to be part of a broader trade war between China and the U.S. He notes that while there are real security threats associated with Chinese-made connected vehicles, the recent decision seems to be an economic one.

It is also a testament to how technology has become a dominant factor in U.S.-China relations and could be a precursor to the type of policies the U.S. government uses to target Chinese-made connected vehicles. Biden noted that China is hell-bent on dominating the automotive market and isn’t afraid of using “unfair practices.”

Biden said that such unfair practices and policies could potentially flood the American market with Chinese electric cars and threaten the country’s national security.  The outcome of this probe could directly impact entities such as NIO Inc. (NYSE: NIO) because any restrictions that the U.S. imposes could hamper Chinese EV makers looking to dominate the U.S. and global auto market.

NIO Inc. (NIO), closed Wednesday's trading session at $5.77, up 5.292%, on 77,698,767 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 419,603 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $4.78/$16.18.

A number of states in the United States are on course to adding female orgasmic disorder to a list of conditions that qualify for medical cannabis. Supporters have cited various studies that have demonstrated how marijuana can significantly improve orgasmic ease, satisfaction and frequency in individuals with female orgasmic disorder.

Female orgasmic disorder is characterized by a delay in or lack of sexual climax despite sexual arousal and sufficient sexual stimulation.

Among the states working on this initiative is Ohio, whose medical board announced that female orgasmic disorder and autism spectrum disorder would be forwarded for review and public commentary after petitions were submitted online. The state of Connecticut is also looking into adding the disorder to its list of qualifying conditions.

In Illinois, regulators have set a meeting for later this month where discussions on whether to add female orgasmic disorder to their qualifying conditions will take place. The Female Orgasm Research Institute also believes that New Mexico will be meeting in May to discuss the same.

The executive director and founder of the Female Orgasm Research Institute, Suzanne Mulvehill, is one of the leaders pushing for states to formally acknowledge the benefits marijuana can offer people with this disorder. Mulvehill, a clinical sexologist, stated that female orgasmic disorder affects more than 40% of women globally. She cited studies dating back decades but supported by recent research, which showed that cannabis consumption before sex could increase the likelihood of orgasm, boost satisfaction and ease difficulty in orgasming, among other benefits.

Mulvehill’s dissertation in clinical sexology also centered on the use of marijuana in managing female orgasmic disorder, with her findings showing that more than 50% of female subjects involved in the study suffered from the condition. In a recent interview, Mulvehill explained that women with the condition were also on more pharmaceutical drugs and had more mental health issues, including depression and anxiety. She noted that the inclusion wasn’t solely based on pleasure but the fact that it was a medical disorder that deserved treatment.

Awareness that marijuana may help women achieve orgasms isn’t new among marijuana users. Current studies show that almost one-third of women who use marijuana do so to improve sexual satisfaction.

There’s also increasing evidence that cannabis can improve sexual function, regardless of gender or sex. One 2023 study discovered that more than 70% of adults who used marijuana before sex noticed improved orgasms and increased desire. Additionally, at least 62% of participants felt marijuana enhanced pleasure during masturbation.

Marijuana companies such as TerrAscend Corp. (TSX: TSND) (OTCQX: TSNDF) may keep a close eye on the trend of adding FOD to qualifying conditions’ lists because it could open opportunities for developing customized products targeting females with this condition.

TerrAscend Corp. (TSNDF), closed Wednesday's trading session at $1.6286, off by 2.479%, on 334,284 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 261,925 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $1.29/$2.45.

Genprex Inc. (GNPX) is a clinical-stage gene therapy company developing potentially life-changing technologies for cancer patients based upon a unique proprietary technology platform, including Genprex’s initial product candidate, Oncoprex™ immunogene therapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Genprex’s platform technologies are designed to administer cancer-fighting genes by encapsulating them into nanoscale hollow spheres called nanovesicles, which are then administered intravenously and taken up by tumor cells where they express proteins that are missing or found in low quantities.

Research and Development

Genprex holds a portfolio of 30 issued and two pending patents covering its technologies and targeted molecular therapies. The company’s research and development program is focused on identifying and developing leading-edge gene therapies that can be used alone or in combination with other therapies for treatment of cancer.

Genprex’s initial product candidate is Oncoprex™, an immunogene therapy for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Oncoprex works by interrupting cell signaling pathways that cause replication and proliferation of cancer cells, re-establishes pathways for apoptosis (or programmed cell death) in cancer cells, and modulates the immune response against cancer cells. Oncoprex has also been shown to block mechanisms that create drug resistance.

Preclinical research is being conducted with the goal of developing Oncoprex to be administered with targeted therapies in other solid tumors, and with immunotherapies in NSCLC and other solid tumors. In addition, Genprex has conducted and plans to continue research into other tumor suppressor genes associated with chromosome 3p21.3, as well as other potential applications of the company’s immunogene therapy platform.

Clinical Trials

Genprex is currently conducting the second phase of a phase I/II clinical trial at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. The company plans to expand its clinical program by adding a new clinical study evaluating Oncoprex™ in combination with a checkpoint inhibitor for treatment of Stage IV or recurrent NSCLC. In research presented at the 2017 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research in Washington, D.C., Genprex’s collaborators showed that TUSC2 in combination with PD-1 checkpoint inhibition has a significantly greater anti-tumor effect in lung cancer than either agent alone. The research also shows that TUSC2 in combination with PD-1 blockade has synergistic activity in upregulating natural killer (NK) cells, correlating with prolonged survival in mice.

TUSC2 (Tumor Suppressor Candidate 2) is a tumor suppressor gene that is absent or deficient in cancer cells of many different cancer types.

The Market

Genprex technologies seek to bridge a critical gap by combining with targeted therapies and immunotherapies to provide treatments to large patient populations who would otherwise not be candidates for those therapies or who have become resistant to them. Genprex technologies are being developed to overcome genomic limitations which are inherent in targeted therapies and immunotherapies in order to provide new treatment solutions to large cancer populations, such as those with lung cancer.

Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. NSCLC is the most common type of lung cancer, accounting for about 85 percent of all lung cancers, according to the American Cancer Society (“ACS”). Despite radical advances in drug development and novel therapeutic standards, survival for late stage lung cancer has not improved significantly in the past 25 years.

Latest figures from the Department of Commerce show that the slowest growth in e-commerce sales was recorded during the last quarter of 2023. This is in comparison to the previous quarter and 2022's last quarter. In the third quarter of 2023, growth in ecommerce sales stood at 7.8% while that of 2022's last quarter was 7.7%. On a positive note, Q4 sales in the United States hit $324.8 billion, according to an analysis conducted by Digital Commerce 360. This figure represented more than 7% growth when compared with figures from the last quarter of 2022. Data from the department shows that food-service and retail sales made up roughly 15.5% of total sales in last year's final quarter. In addition, the analysis determined that a new high was also observed in the online penetration of total sales. Ecommerce penetration in the United States demonstrates the share of funds customers can possibly spend online. Entities such as NextPlat Corp. (NASDAQ: NXPL) (NASDAQ: NXPLW) that have an interest in healthcare ecommerce could take encouragement from the growing online sales. This trend offers growth opportunities for operators in the online sales space.

NextPlat Corp. (NASDAQ: NXPL) (NASDAQ: NXPLW), a next generation e-commerce platform, was created with vision and purpose to capitalize on high growth sectors and global markets. The company collaborates with businesses – large and small – to simplify and accelerate online commerce and uniquely enables customers and partners to optimize their e-commerce reach, presence and revenue. • Global Telesat Communications and Orbital SatCom Corp. – Targeting both domestic and international markets, NextPlat’s subsidiaries leverage partnerships with major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Alibaba, eBay and Walmart to serve a growing base that includes more than 50,000 corporate, governmental and individual customers. In total, the brands market more than 10,000 individual products, with a focus on satellite-based connectivity solutions. In addition to exploring accretive M&A opportunities, NextPlat aims to diversify its range of products and broaden its geographic footprint moving forward in an effort to better capitalize on the tremendous growth potential in the United States, Europe and Asia.

“Our goal for 2023 and beyond is to leverage our improved operational capabilities and enhanced leadership team as we expand our offerings in communications and connectivity into the high-growth health care market where we intend to launch an array of innovative new offerings,” Fernandez said in a March 2023 news release detailing the company’s record top-line performance. “Although there remain supply chain headwinds and the challenge of global inflation, we are confident that we have the right combination of market-tested expertise, technology and partnerships that will enable us to bring the power of e-commerce to more customers, brands and industries in the United States and abroad.”

Market Opportunity

The rapid growth of e-commerce over the last decade is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. According to data published by Forbes, roughly 20.8% of all retail purchases are expected to take place online in 2023, accounting for total sales of $6.31 trillion worldwide. It total, e-commerce sales are expected to grow by 10.4% YoY in 2023, accounting for a whopping 24% of all retail purchases by 2026.

For NextPlat, existing partnerships in the industry could be key to capitalizing on this growth. The Forbes report indicates that Amazon accounts for roughly 38.7% of e-commerce sales, while sites like Walmart, eBay and Alibaba round out the list of most visited e-commerce websites. Alibaba is especially interesting due to NextPlat’s recent strategic merchant sourcing agreement with Tmall Global. The Chinese market is “mammoth,” as a recent Alizila report noted. The country’s annual online retail sales of physical goods have nearly doubled in the last five years, reaching approximately 13.8 trillion yuan in 2022, which is nearly $2 trillion USD.

The health care portion of the e-commerce market is generating particularly bullish forecasts, bolstered by the continued adoption of the 340B Drug Pricing Program in the U.S., which requires most drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to covered entities at significantly reduced prices. Industry reports suggest that the global health care e-commerce market will expand at a compound annual growth rate of 16.8% from 2022 to 2030, climbing to a value of more than $1.37 trillion by the end of the forecast period.

Turbo Energy S.A. (NASDAQ: TURB) designs, develops and distributes equipment for the generation, management and storage of photovoltaic energy in Spain, Europe and internationally.

Turbo Energy’s products include lithium-ion batteries and inverters. Additionally, the company recently launched its flagship product, the Sunbox, an all-in-one device that integrates most of the equipment required for a residential photovoltaic installation. The Sunbox is powered by AI and features a software system that monitors the generation, use and management of photovoltaic energy by analyzing large amounts of data related to energy generation, consumption, market prices and weather forecasts. This AI system optimizes battery usage, reducing electricity bills and providing peak-use reduction and uninterruptible power supply functions.

Turbo Energy currently sells its photovoltaic energy equipment primarily through distributors for residential consumers in Spain, but it possesses the expertise and international perspective to expand its product portfolio into industrial and commercial scale and markets, as well as advancing the internationalization process it has already started. The company plans to expand into the industrial photovoltaic sector with its new Sunbox, launched in 2023, in higher power and capacity variants. Its goal is to become a significant player in this sector and contribute to the growth of renewable energy solutions.

The company was incorporated in 2013 and is based in Valencia, Spain. It operates as a subsidiary of Umbrella Solar Investment S.A.

Products

Lithium-Ion Batteries

Turbo Energy is one of the leading companies that introduced lithium-ion batteries for photovoltaic energy storage in Spain. Primarily for the home energy storage market, the company’s batteries have capacities from 2.24 kWh to 5.1 kWh in 24 and 48 volts. In addition, its 48V / 5.1 kWh units are available in a dual battery system.

Inverters

The inverter converts the direct current produced by the photovoltaic panels into alternating current that can be used by household appliances. It also regulates battery charging and discharging based on energy needs and optimizes utilization of generated renewable energy. Turbo Energy currently offers multiple models that cover most household installations.

All-in-One Sunbox

This product incorporates inverters, batteries and the rest of the components necessary to operate and protect the photovoltaic installation. Software System

In communication with the inverter, the company’s software monitors energy flows between the photovoltaic panels, household consumption, storage and an optional electric vehicle charging station. The software allows users to customize an automatic backup mode based on weather forecasts, or manually select which part of the battery will be reserved for possible power outages. It also allows the battery to be used in a peak shaving mode, which leverages AI to trigger battery power when grid energy is most expensive, effectively reducing the amount of high-cost power drawn from the grid.

Market Opportunity

According to a report by Fortune Business Insights, a global research and reporting firm, the solar energy storage battery market was estimated to be worth $3.33 billion in 2022 and is projected to reach a value of more than $20 billion by 2030, marking a CAGR of 24.2% over the forecast period.

These batteries are crucial components of renewable energy systems, allowing for the storage of excess electricity generated by solar panels, so it can be used during times of no or low sunlight. By storing energy and supplying it when needed, these batteries reduce reliance on the power grid and maximize self-consumption while helping users avoid peak electricity rates. They also contribute to the transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future by enabling residential consumers and businesses to use solar power even when the sun is not shining.

FuelPositive Corp. (TSX.V: NHHH) (OTC: NHHHF)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight FuelPositive Corp. (NHHHF).

Despite the United States' commitment to adopting renewable forms of energy such as solar and wind to help mitigate climate change, recent reports have revealed that a growing number of local governments in the country are refusing to permit solar and wind industrial sites. According to USA Today, local governments countrywide are banning solar and wind energy plants faster than they are building new ones. The report was based on a countrywide analysis that revealed at least 15% of U.S. counties have essentially stopped the installation of utility-scale solar and wind. USA Today found that local governments are stopping green-energy projects in their jurisdictions through moratoriums, construction impediments, outright bans and a variety of conditions that make it difficult to build green energy. This is in spite of the fact that the United States is currently working to achieve 100% clean energy by the year 2035 and will have to ramp up green-energy adoption rapidly to meet its green-energy goals. The reasons for the rejection of green-energy projects span a gamut of factors, including spoiled views, the excessive noise generated by wind turbines, changes to local wind patterns, death of bats and birds caught in wind turbines, and the taking of agriculturally productive land out of commission in order to set up these facilities, among other reasons. This resistance to new projects could give green-energy companies such as FuelPositive Corp. (TSX.V: NHHH) (OTCQB: NHHHF) some food for thought going forward as they hash out their expansion plans across the North American region and beyond.

FuelPositive Corp. (TSX.V: NHHH) (OTC: NHHHF) is a growth stage company focused on licensing, partnership and acquisition opportunities building upon various technological achievements. The company is committed to providing commercially viable and sustainable clean energy solutions, including carbon-free ammonia (NH3), for use across a broad spectrum of industries and applications.

FuelPositive is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Hydrogen Economy Problems and FuelPositive’s Carbon-Free Technology

The hydrogen economy is currently facing many challenges. Traditional NH3 manufacturing exists on a massive scale, but centralized facilities result in some of the world’s most concentrated CO2 emissions. In total, an estimated 200 million metric tonnes of NH3 are consumed each year, with greater than 80% utilized by the agricultural sector. NH3 is also being positioned as a viable alternative to fossil fuels.

FuelPositive’s flagship carbon-free ammonia technology provides an innovative solution to these environmental concerns. Developed by Dr. Ibrahim Dincer and his team, the company’s platform allows for the in-situ production of NH3 in an entirely sustainable manner, using only water, air and sustainable electricity.

The production of hydrogen is energy intensive, but it is just one variable hindering the growth of the hydrogen economy. Other hurdles include:

  • Storage – The storage of hydrogen by compression or liquification are both cost prohibitive and unsustainable.
  • Distribution – The distribution network for effective hydrogen deployment has yet to be developed, as the extreme high-pressure distribution requirements to transport hydrogen would result in enormous infrastructure costs.
  • End Use – R&D on the transportation-related end use applications for hydrogen is in its infancy, but almost any vehicle on the road today can be easily converted to run on NH3 at a considerably lower cost per mile traveled when compared to traditional fossil fuels.

A key benefit of FuelPositive’s patent-pending, first-of-its-kind carbon-free NH3 technology is its flexibility. The process allows for small, medium or large-scale production of NH3 on location, minimizing or even eliminating the challenges and volatility associated with storage and transportation to end use. As such, with an appropriately sized FuelPositive system and access to renewable energy, the end use applications for the company’s platform are nearly infinite.

Manufacturing Partnership

On May 19, 2021, FuelPositive announced its selection of National Compressed Air Canada Ltd. (“NCA”) to undertake manufacturing of the company’s Phase 2 hydrogen-ammonia synthesizer commercial prototype systems for carbon-free ammonia production.

In a news release detailing the partnership, FuelPositive CEO Ian Clifford noted, “This critical milestone for FuelPositive will confirm the broad application potential for our technology and is the backbone of our Carbon-Free Hydrogen-NH3 offering. Partnering with the knowledgeable and experienced team at NCA on this commercialization project will bring our development-stage program to life.”

Global Ammonia Market Outlook

The global ammonia market was valued at $52.71 billion in 2017 and is forecast to reach $81.42 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 5.59%, according to data from Fior Markets (https://ibn.fm/1OfOB).

The agricultural industry consumes more than 80% of global NH3. Smaller percentages can be attributed to the waste, water treatment, refrigerants, antiseptic, textile, mining and pharmaceutical industries.

One of the most polluting industries on the planet consists of conventional agribusinesses. These polluters are responsible for more greenhouse emissions per year than transportation. This is where FuelPositive’s technology is expected to be extremely beneficial.

Zoned Properties Inc. (OTCQB: ZDPY)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlightFathom Zoned Properties Inc. (OTCQB: ZDPY).

Zoned Properties Inc. (OTCQB: ZDPY) is a technology-driven property investment company focused on acquiring value-add real estate within the regulated cannabis industry in the United States. The company aspires to innovate within the real estate development sector, focusing on direct-to-consumer real estate that is leased to best-in-class cannabis retailers.

The company is redefining the approach to commercial real estate investment through its standardized investment process backed by its proprietary property technology. Zoned Properties has developed a national ecosystem of real estate services to support its real estate development process, including a commercial real estate brokerage and a real estate advisory practice.

With a decade of national experience and a team of experts devoted to the emerging cannabis industry, Zoned Properties is addressing the specific needs of a modern market in highly regulated industries. The company targets commercial properties that face unique zoning or development challenges, identifies solutions that can potentially have a major impact on their commercial value and then works to acquire the properties while securing long-term, absolute-net leases.

Zoned Properties targets commercial properties that can be acquired and rezoned for specific purposes, including the regulated and legalized cannabis industry. It does not grow, harvest, sell or distribute cannabis or any substances regulated under United States law.

The company is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Portfolio

The company’s investment properties are located in Arizona, Michigan and Illinois, with 100% occupancy and a weighted average lease term over 10 years. Each of the company’s leased properties is occupied by a commercial cannabis tenant. The company is expecting rental revenue from its property investment portfolio of greater than $2.5 million in calendar-year 2024.

Zoned Properties maintains a portfolio of properties that it owns, develops and leases. As of February 2024, the company leases land and/or building space at the six properties in its portfolio to licensed and regulated cannabis tenants in areas with established cannabis regulations and zoning procedures. Four of the leased properties are zoned and permitted as regulated cannabis retail dispensaries, and two of the leased properties are zoned and permitted as regulated cannabis cultivation and processing facilities.

The company considers the two cultivation sites in its portfolio as legacy properties and may consider selling or leveraging those properties to unlock equity and create capital availability in the future. The Zoned Properties investment thesis has evolved over the years as the cannabis industry has emerged, and the company is currently focused on investing capital into direct-to-consumer properties, located in state-markets with robust cannabis consumer demand in the industry.

Zoned Properties is in pursuit of property acquisitions that can be characterized as consumer-facing, retail dispensary properties that are positioned to be leased to retail dispensary cannabis tenants under net leasing structures. As of September 2023, the company has agreements in place to acquire new investment properties with new cannabis tenants located in Arizona, Missouri and Illinois. The company plans to initiate and target its investment process in Ohio and Maryland.

With a strategic shift in focus to direct-to-consumer real estate that is leased to best-in-class cannabis retailers in the industry, the company will continue to utilize its competitive edge when identifying excellent investment properties. Zoned Properties has a full pipeline of acquisition prospects and continues to utilize an extremely disciplined capital allocation approach.

Reunion Gold Corp. (TSX.V: RGD) (OTCQX: RGDFF)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Reunion Gold Corp. (TSX.V: RGD) (OTCQX: RGDFF) .

Reunion Gold Corp. (TSX.V: RGD) (OTCQX: RGDFF) is a leading gold explorer in the Guiana Shield, South America. In early 2021, the Company announced an exciting new greenfield gold discovery at its Oko West project in Guyana, where, after 22 months of resource definition drilling, the Company has announced an initial Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) containing 2.475 Moz of gold in Indicated resources at 1.84 g/t and 1.762 Moz of gold in inferred resources at 2.02 g/t contained within a pit shell outline. Preliminary metallurgy results performed by the company, consisting of 8 bottle roll tests obtained strong results, averaging just under 90% recoveries on average. The Company is continuing with additional development activities at Oko West, including environmental base line studies and additional metallurgical work relating to the delivery of a PEA by year end 2023. In addition, Reunion Gold is currently exploring several priority targets in the Oko West project area on which the company feels there is good potential to add additional resource ounces. This includes the opportunity to grow the initial mineral resource estimate (MRE) released on June 13, 2023, and to discover additional gold ounces at Oko West outside of the resource area.

The Guiana Shield remains one of the most prospective exploration locations globally for the discovery of world class orogenic gold deposits. The shield, including both Guyana and Surinam, contain large relatively underexplored greenstone belts, from which Reunion Gold expects many more significant gold discoveries could emerge in the coming years.

Oko West Project

Reunion Gold’s Oko West Project is a brand-new gold discovery in northwest Guyana located within the historical Oko gold district. Alluvial gold has been mined from the Oko district since the turn of the century, but very little primary gold has been mined or even explored for to the best of the company’s knowledge. The project comprises a prospecting license with an area of approximately 44 square kilometers and is 100% held by Reunion’s Guyanese subsidiary.

In 2020, Reunion Gold’s geochemical survey, trenching and initial 1000 m drill program discovered and confirmed the presence of gold mineralization in this Orogenic gold system. The gold occurs in the eastern edge of the project area, along a 6km long sheared contact between a granitoid intrusion and a meta volcanic-meta sedimentary rock package. The MRE is located within the Kairuni zone, which represents the northern most 1.9 km of the 6 km long contact.

“We are advancing our Oko West project along two tracks. The first is to advance the exploration programs outside of the Kairuni zone, aimed at outlining and discovering additional gold mineralization within our Prospecting License. On this front, I am very excited by the results from the initial Scout RC Geochem drill program that is defining new targets west of our Kairuni zone,” Rick Howes, President and CEO of Reunion Gold, stated in a recent news release. In addition to the targets west of the Kairuni zone, the company has also commenced exploration work on the southern ~ 4 km of the same sheared contact that hosts the Kairuni zone MRE. In addition, the company feels that the MRE marks the size of the Kairuni resource at a point in time and that there is good potential to continue to grow the resource. The MRE remains open at depth below the resource pit outline in the block 4 area and also to depth and along strike in the block 5 and 6 areas. In addition to the exploration programs, the second strategic track is to rapidly advance the Kairuni zone along the path to development. To that end the company is moving forward with the engineering and other studies, including more detailed metallurgical studies, that will support the release a PEA on the Kairuni zone by year end 2023 The company feels that the rapid advancement of development of Kairuni zone MRE, while in parallel continuing to explore for additional ounces on the project, is the best path to try and maximize shareholder value in the shortest period of time.

Guyana

Guyana boasts a long history of mining gold, bauxite, diamonds and manganese. Still, the greenstone belts of the Guiana Shield remain relatively unexplored when compared to the analogous regions of the West African Shield (Birimian), which, according to geological evidence, was once connected to the Guiana Shield, forming a contiguous craton prior to the Mesozoic period.

Despite a historical lack of accessibility and low exploration intensity, several significant large-scale projects have emerged in the Guiana Shield, including Aurora, Oko West, Oko Main, Toroparu and Omai. Guyana is English speaking with a British based parliamentary and legal system and boasts the world’s fastest growing economy on the back of significant offshore oil discoveries by Exxon and its partners. It is expected that a significant amount of the revenues from oil production will be invested in improving the infrastructure, education and health care and agriculture within the country.

Market Opportunity

The World Gold Council, an industry association representing gold producers with hundreds of mining operations in nearly 50 countries around the world, called 2022 the “strongest year for gold demand in over a decade.” Annual gold demand jumped 18% YoY due to “colossal central bank purchases, aided by vigorous retail investor buying and slower ETF outflows.”

Despite this spike in demand, total annual gold supply increased by just 2% in 2022, halting two years of successive declines but failing to challenge 2018 highs. This supply-demand imbalance could provide a favorable market environment as Reunion Gold continues to advance drilling programs at its 100%-owned Oko West Project.

Management Team

InMed Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: INM)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight InMed Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: INM).

InMed Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: INM) is a global leader in the manufacturing and clinical development of rare cannabinoids. InMed is a clinical stage company developing cannabinoid-based pharmaceutical drug candidates, as well as manufacturing technologies for pharmaceutical-grade rare cannabinoids.

The company is dedicated to delivering new therapeutic alternatives to treat conditions with high unmet medical needs. The company is also developing a proprietary manufacturing technology to produce pharmaceutical-grade rare cannabinoids in the lab and has recently announced an LOI to acquire a leading rare cannabinoid manufacturer.

Research and Technology

There are more than 100 rare cannabinoids found in only trace amounts in the cannabis plant, together making up less than 1% of the plant’s biomass. InMed is initially focused on the therapeutic benefits of cannabinol (CBN) in diseases with high unmet medical need. Preclinical studies of CBN demonstrated an excellent safety profile and showed CBN has potential for therapeutic benefit over other cannabinoids such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).

Evidence suggests there may be great therapeutic potential in rare cannabinoids. Each has a specific chemical structure, and different cannabinoids have been observed to have distinct physiological properties in humans, including therapeutic potential for specific diseases as well as unique safety profiles. CBN is the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in InMed’s two lead programs for dermatological and ocular diseases.

InMed’s most advanced compound, INM-755, is a CBN topical cream under clinical development for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa, a severe genetic skin disorder. To date, INM-755 has been evaluated in two Phase 1 clinical trials in healthy volunteers. InMed has filed Clinical Trial Applications in several countries as part of a global Phase 2 clinical trial of INM-755 (cannabinol) cream in epidermolysis bullosa. Responses from the National Competent Authorities and Ethics Committees are expected throughout the summer of 2021.

InMed is also involved in developing INM-088, an ocular CBN formulation being researched for the treatment of glaucoma, the second leading cause of blindness in the developed world. InMed is currently evaluating several formulations to deliver CBN into the eye to address issues of dosing frequency, side effects and treatment penetration. INM-088 is being designed for topical delivery to the eye. This localized delivery results in very little drug being absorbed or migrating into the bloodstream, thus minimizing potential adverse side effects. INM-088 shows promise to reduce intraocular pressure and provide neuroprotection of the eye.

Manufacturing

The limited availability of rare cannabinoids like CBN makes them economically impractical to extract directly from the plant for pharmaceutical use. InMed is developing IntegraSyn, a cannabinoid synthesis manufacturing system to create rare cannabinoids in the lab that are bioidentical to the compounds derived from the cannabis plant. IntegraSyn uses multiple standard pharmaceutical processes and has achieved a cannabinoid yield of 5 grams per liter, surpassing commercial viability and significantly exceeding currently reported industry yields. InMed is now focusing on manufacturing scale-up to larger batch sizes while continuing process optimization, targeting increased cannabinoid yield and further reducing overall cost of goods.

BayMedica Inc. Acquisition

On June 29, 2021, InMed announced it had entered into a non-binding letter of intent to acquire BayMedica Inc., a private company based in Nevada and California that specializes in the manufacture and commercialization of rare cannabinoids.

As noted in the news release, BayMedica is a revenue-stage biotechnology company leveraging its significant expertise in synthetic biology and pharmaceutical chemistry to develop efficient, scalable and proprietary manufacturing approaches to produce high quality, regulatory-compliant rare cannabinoids for consumer applications. BayMedica is currently commercializing the rare cannabinoid CBC (cannabichromene) as a B2B supplier to distributors and manufacturers marketing products in the health and wellness sector. BayMedica is planning additional rare cannabinoid launches for the coming year.

Pursuant to the indicative terms of the LOI, InMed and BayMedica intend to negotiate and enter into a definitive agreement under which InMed would acquire 100% of BayMedica in exchange for 1.6 million InMed common shares to be issued to BayMedica’s equity and convertible debt holders, with any such issued InMed common shares being subject to a six-month contractual hold period.

Market Outlook

There is a rapidly growing demand for rare cannabinoids. However, their low natural concentration makes traditional harvesting of these compounds cost prohibitive. Biosynthesis allows production of rare cannabinoids in the lab that are bioidentical to compounds found in nature, with significantly higher yields which reduce costs. Biosynthesis can produce pharmaceutical-grade, bioidentical, THC-free compounds at a cost that’s 70 to 90 percent less than wholesale prices of naturally harvested rare cannabinoids.

Cannabinoid-based pharmaceuticals are expected to overtake the market as rare cannabinoids become less expensive and more available. According to Statista, the value of the consumer market for cannabinoid-based pharmaceuticals in the United States is forecast to grow to $25 billion by 2025 and to $50 billion by 2029, with cannabinoid-based pharmaceuticals used to treat health conditions including pain, respiratory conditions, autoimmune conditions and more.

Projects

Storm Copper

The high-grade Storm Copper Deposit is located 112 kilometers south of the community of Resolute Bay, Nunavut, on western Somerset Island, just south of the past-producing Polaris Pb-Zn Mine. The property comprises 173 contiguous mining claims, including the Storm Copper and Seal Zinc projects, covering an area of approximately 541,795 acres.

The property has good access to established shipping lanes, and the landscape provides favorable conditions for development of roads and a protected deep-water port. Exploration is supported through excellent infrastructure in the nearby hamlet of Resolute Bay.

Aston Bay is partnered with American West Metals (ASX: AW1) at Storm. American West is responsible for all exploration expenditures, having aggressively advanced the project toward production and earned an 80% interest. This affords excellent optionality to the company’s shareholders, as Aston Bay is free carried with no required expenditures until the completion of a bankable feasibility study.

American West recently completed an Australian JORC-compliant Maiden Resource Estimate for Storm; the North American 43-101 compliant resource estimate is expected in Q1 2024. American West is cashed up and plans a multimillion-dollar resource expansion and new discovery drilling program for the summer of 2024.

The Buckingham County Gold Project

The gold-bearing system at the Buckingham County Gold Project in Virginia lies within a belt hosting past producing mines, current gold mines and advanced gold explorations, stretching through Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Buckingham hosts a “Kirkland Lake-style” high grade gold vein returning values consistently over one ounce gold per ton and is underexplored both at depth and along almost one mile of strike length. These types of veins have excellent ESG qualities, as they are typically mined using a small footprint underground method, with gold extracted using simple and environmentally friendly gravity methods.

Market Opportunity

The World Gold Council, the industry association for the world’s gold producers, estimated in 2023 the physical financial gold market, which is made up of bars, coins, gold ETFs and central bank reserves, is worth nearly $5 trillion. The council reports that gold mine production adds approximately 3,500 tons of the precious metal to the world’s supply annually, equivalent to about 2% growth.

This historical scarcity and relatively slow production of new supply, as compared to other commodities, is a primary reason gold has retained its value for millennia, according to the council.

A report from Acumen Research and Consulting, a global provider of market intelligence and consulting services, valued the global copper market at $304.1 billion in 2022 and forecast that it will reach a market size of $496.8 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 5.1% over the forecast period.

The report identifies a growing demand for copper in the electronics industry, as well as an expanding copper supply due to increasing production from existing mines and the rising number of mine development projects in developing nations, as driving factors in the rising value of the copper market.
