Compass Pathways PLC (CMPS)

QualityStocks, InvestorPlace, InvestorBrandNetwork, MarketBeat, Daily Trade Alert, StreetInsider, Schaeffer's, Trades Of The Day and The Street reported earlier on Compass Pathways PLC (CMPS), and today we highlight the Company, here at the QualityStocks Daily Newsletter.

The city of Ferndale has joined a small but growing number of cities in Michigan that have decriminalized entheogenic plants such as DMT, psilocybin mushrooms and ayahuasca. The Ferndale City Council announced last week that a motion to decriminalize entheogens had received unanimous approval.

While the resolution doesn’t legalize entheogens outright, it will make the prosecution of entheogen-related offenses a low priority for law enforcement. The resolution comes amid a surge in psychedelic research which revealed that hallucinogenics such as ayahuasca and magic mushrooms have potential mental health benefits.

According to the resolution, clinical and scientific studies coupled with traditional practices have shown that entheogenic plants can “catalyze profound experiences of spiritual and personal growth.” This has led to a multitude of state and local governments across the country that are considering either decriminalizing or outright legalizing the therapeutic use of entheogens.

The therapeutic potential of such hallucinogenics is so great that several universities and even the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs have involved themselves in psychedelic research to develop psychedelic-assisted therapies.

Ferndale is now the fourth city in Michigan to decriminalize entheogens alongside Anna Arbor, Detroit and Hazel Park.

Last year, psychedelic reform activists began taking steps to put a measure to legalize psychedelics on the statewide 2022 ballot. However, the activists including Students for Sensible Drug Policy announced in June 2022 that rather than trying to get a psychedelic measure onto the 2022 ballot, they would focus on qualifying such a measure for next year’s ballot.

Michigan Initiative for Community Healing Myc Williams said at the time that their aim of meeting the June 1, 2023, deadline was ambitious as activists had two months to collect the requisite signatures for the initiative. Williams said in a press release that it was time for the campaign to refocus its energy and that the activists would harness the momentum they had already built to get the measure onto the 2024 ballot.

With the resolution in place, the “planting, cultivating, purchasing, transportation and distribution” of entheogenic fungi and plants will have the “lowest law enforcement priority.”

Resolution sponsor Mayor Pro Tem Kat Bruner James said that the city will use funds that would have been spent on enforcing the psychedelic prohibition on other city functions.

Billy Horton from Decriminalize Nature Ferndale thanked the Ferndale City Council for approving the resolution to decriminalize entheogenic plants. He said that the Ferndale chapter of Decriminalize Nature would continue its efforts to educate the public on the safe use of plant medicines.

This drive to educate the public about plant-based medicines comes at a time when various enterprises, including Compass Pathways PLC (NASDAQ: CMPS), are taking major strides forward in the quest to commercialize therapeutic formulations from psilocybin and other psychedelics.

Compass Pathways PLC (CMPS), closed Thursday's trading session at $7.97, off by 1.968%, on 290,626 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 10.785M and the stock's 52-week low/high is $6.54/$21.50.

Aston Martin is about to experience some exciting milestone. The Drive reports that the British automaker will soon update its selection of sports vehicles. By the year 2025, the company will debut its first all-electric vehicle as part of the plan.

The revamp news was conveyed by Lawrence Stroll, who gave a tantalizing glimpse into the company’s future during the presentation of the financial reports for the year ending 2022.

Although he avoided providing specific details of the cars that will comprise the new range, they will likely be new iterations of the DBS, DB11 or Vantage, and possibly even the DBX SUV. The Valhalla supercar, the company’s first electric-powered model, appears destined to be included. According to Stroll, the business intends to electrify every one of its cars by 2030 and will start making PHEV deliveries early in the coming year.

The fact that among the new models will be the brand’s first electric vehicle is the most exciting thing about the planned lineup redesign. Stroll noted that the British marque plans to introduce the all-electric car in 2025. It will be intriguing to see whether it is a completely electric variant of their DBX, which is without doubt the brand’s best-selling car, or a low-emission model that is able to compete with vehicles such as the Pininfarina Battista and border-pushing Rimac Nevera.

Furthermore, it appears that the manufacturer intends to produce more unique, limited-edition vehicles, similar to the magnificent open-cockpit DBR22 speedster announced last year. For the brand’s 110th birthday, the company hinted at the new speedster model, although it is still unclear what form the vehicle will assume. Most experts are guessing that the new model will be difficult and costly to obtain.

Nowadays, Aston Martin appears confident. As per CNBC, the brand has said that even though its pretax losses increased in 2022, the company anticipates higher profits in 2023. Stroll stated that the business, which in the previous year received $784.4 million in equity financing, aims to achieve consistently favorable free money flow by 2024. The brand’s share price rose by 14% following the presentation.

It is unclear whether the car maker’s electric vehicle would be built on an actual model or be entirely original.

As more legacy carmakers join the EV fray, startups such as Nikola Corporation (NASDAQ: NKLA) will have to work smarter and harder to keep those deep-pocketed auto manufacturers from dominating the electric vehicle arena.

Nikola Corporation (NKLA), closed Thursday's trading session at $1.8, off by 7.2165%, on 10,784,940 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 736,070 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $1.79/$11.87.

There has been an increased investment in sustainable energy sources such as solar and wind, as well as research into carbon capture technologies (CCP) in recent years. Carbon capture involves “capturing” carbon dioxide emissions from processes such as steel production and burning fossil fuels for energy, and then storing the CO2 in geological formations deep underground.

Over the past decade, the fossil fuel sector has spent millions of dollars lobbying federal lawmakers to provide billions of dollars for investment into carbon capture and sequestration (CSS) technologies in the 2021 Infrastructure and Jobs Act (IJA) and the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). A recent International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report found that the best way to reach climate change targets would be to either close all coal-fired power plants or invest in CSS technologies to clean up emissions from industrial processes that generate carbon dioxide.

But even though CCP has been around for decades, it is simply too expensive to be economically feasible on a large scale; in addition, it takes too long to build. Evidence shows that investing billions in CCS technologies would be a waste and that the investment would be better spent elsewhere.

The U.S. Department of Energy has spent close to $700 million on eight CCS projects from 2009 to 2020 with little success. Additionally, the coal industry invested hundreds of millions into coal capture and sequestration, but all CCS projects failed. The only project that was ever built was discontinued before it could reach its financial and environmental goals.

A 2021 U.S. Government Accountability Office report revealed that the DOE was at risk of spending significant taxpayer funds on CCS projects that had little chance of success.

The most affordable and most effective way to reduce emissions from coal would be to simply shut down coal mines instead of spending billions of dollars on carbon capture technology that is yet to prove its effectiveness. Rather than digging up coal, burning it, and then spending billions of dollars to capture the subsequent emissions, cutting off the cycle right at the beginning would be much more cost effective, says Mercy Corps senior climate advisor Scott Brown.

A buyer that purchases a coal mine at an estimated 5 to 10 times its profitability and then closes it would have spent less than $3–$6 per ton to permanently sequester carbon compared to the more than $100 that it would cost to sequester carbon using CCS technologies.

Companies such as Amazon, Google and Microsoft that are spending over $500 per ton to capture carbon dioxide using experimental technologies could invest that cash into buying and shutting down coal mines.

Carbon sequestering may be feasible in the future to capture emissions from industries such as steel and cement production that can’t be replaced easily, but in the meantime, our top priority should be to reduce the amount of emissions escaping into the atmosphere in the first place, Brown asserts.

The lack of clarity regarding the best way to phase out coal shows just how integral this fuel had become and why it will not be easy for extraction firms such as Alliance Resource Partners LP (NASDAQ: ARLP) to just close shop when energy shortages are looming or actually being experienced in different parts of the developed world.

Alliance Resource Partners LP (ARLP), closed Thursday's trading session at $19.81, off by 1.049%, on 736,221 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 10,000 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $13.45/$27.63.

Hillcrest technology eliminates traditional design trade-offs faced across the power industry – deploying higher switching frequencies has historically meant a greater increase in losses, lower system efficiency and higher heat. Through a combination of hardware and software expertise, Hillcrest enables power applications to leverage higher switching frequencies AND

  • Realize improved power system performance and reliability
  • Operate at higher power levels without compromising efficiency

The expected benefits of Hillcrest’s traction inverter have been confirmed via testing and shared in a technical white paper, published in April 2022, that confirmed the following results:

  • Significant efficiency gains – 99%-plus inverter efficiency
  • Increased power density targeting 50kW/L+
  • Significantly increased motor efficiency
  • Lower stress on mechanical and electrical parts, enhancing reliability
  • Improved thermal management

Hillcrest has also filed a patent for an enhanced powertrain solution that offers the potential to simplify EV charging and redefine how the industry envisions charging infrastructure. The company believes the most exciting benefit of the enhanced powertrain solution is the ability to eliminate the onboard charger and booster from an EV, as well as faster, anywhere charging including direct DC, wireless, and bidirectional charging across current and future power levels. Hillcrest sees this as a true EV charging game changer.

The company’s technology applies to nearly every clean energy industry segment:

  • Wind power – an inverter is deployed at a wind turbine generator to convert the AC output, with at least one additional inverter used to deliver the power to the grid/battery.
  • Solar power – an inverter is used to convert the DC output from the photovoltaic panels into the AC power that flows to the grid/battery/home.
  • Energy storage – an inverter is deployed to convert the DC output from the storage system or batteries to the AC power that flows to the grid/home/EV.
  • EV fast chargers – an inverter converts the AC input from the grid/storage system to the DC output needed to charge an EV’s battery.

Market Outlook

According to an April 2022 market analysis by Vantage Market Research (VMR), the global power inverter market is expected to reach a value of $95 billion by 2028, driven by increasing demand for EVs, energy generating wind turbines and solar-powered photovoltaic systems. That jump is forecast from an estimated $70.5 billion market value in 2021 and represents a compound annual growth rate of more than 5%.

According to the VMR report, many governments in countries around the world are supporting alternative options for efficient and nonpolluting energy generation. This has boosted demand for wind energy and solar energy systems. Hillcrest is aiming to capture a share of this future market growth across nearly every segment of the clean energy industry.

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight EverGen Infrastructure Corp. (TSX.V: EVGN) (OTCQX: EVGIF).

RNG is a carbon-neutral alternative to natural gas that iscompatible with existing pipeline infrastructure

RNG is considered carbon-negative because it is produced fromorganic materials that otherwise decompose and generate methaneemissions

EverGen leads RNG adoption in Canada by acquiring, developing, andmanaging portfolio of RNG and waste-to-energy projects

EVGIF aims to develop a cross-country RNG platform of 20+facilities within five years, starting with British Columbia,Alberta, and Ontario

EverGen management predicts RNG opportunity to exceed C$16 billionfor RNG producers

EverGen Infrastructure (TSX.V: EVGN) (OTCQX: EVGIF) is focused on achieving a Net-Zero future by leveraging the powerof renewable natural gas (“RNG”) – a carbon-neutral alternative tonatural gas that is compatible with existing pipelineinfrastructure.

EverGen Infrastructure Corp. (TSX.V: EVGN) (OTCQX: EVGIF) is developing Canada’s Renewable Natural Gas Infrastructure Platform, starting on the west coast in British Columbia. The company is combating climate change and helping communities contribute to a sustainable future by acquiring, developing, building, owning and operating a portfolio of renewable natural gas (RNG), waste-to-energy, and related infrastructure projects.

While EverGen is currently focused on British Columbia, its continued growth is expected across other regions of North America. RNG is produced differently than conventional natural gas, without drilling wells. RNG is derived from biogas, which is captured from decomposing organic waste in landfills, food waste, agricultural waste matter and wastewater from treatment facilities. This waste feedstock is supplied to an anaerobic digester which contains bacteria that breaks down organic matter in the absence of oxygen. The resulting biogas is captured and cleaned to create carbon neutral or carbon negative RNG to be used by the existing North American gas pipeline grid. By capturing these emissions and transforming them into RNG, then combusting into CO2, the overall greenhouse gases (GHG) impact is materially less potent than allowing natural decomposition to release methane into the atmosphere. Liquid and solid digestate matter is a byproduct of the RNG production process and is used as fertilizer and in other applications.

EverGen operates three projects in British Columbia. The company was incorporated in 2020 and went public in 2021, with its common shares listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under ticker symbol ‘EVGN’. In February 2022, EverGen’s common shares began trading on the OTCQB Venture Market in the U.S. under ticker symbol ‘EVGIF’. The company is headquartered in Vancouver.

Portfolio Projects

Fraser Valley Biogas is one of three projects in EverGen’s portfolio. Located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, the facility has been digesting manure and off-farm organics since 2011 and was the first agricultural digester in Canada to produce RNG. The RNG generated through this project is part of a FortisBC program to supply renewable gas to homes, businesses and other customers. Fraser Valley Biogas also provides Abbotsford farms with renewable fertilizer via the digestate produced. EverGen acquired Fraser Valley Biogas early in 2021 and is currently enhancing and expanding the facility. These optimization projects resulted in record production during the month of September 2021, supporting the growing demand for RNG in British Columbia. Optimization activities contributed an additional 18% of RNG production for September and a 9% higher year-to-date production compared to the previous year. The facility produces approximately 80,000 gigajoules of RNG, enough to heat more than 1,000 homes for a year.

Net Zero Waste Abbotsford, a wholly owned EverGen subsidiary and portfolio project, is an existing composting and organic processing facility and RNG expansion project. The British Columbia Utilities Commission recently approved a 20-year offtake agreement between the facility and FortisBC, an electricity and gas utility. Under this agreement, FortisBC will purchase up to 173,000 gigajoules of RNG annually for injection into its natural gas system upon completion of an anaerobic digester project at Net Zero Waste Abbotsford. Once construction is complete, this project is expected to produce enough energy to meet the needs of more than 1,900 homes.

Sea to Sky Soils, a wholly owned EverGen subsidiary and portfolio project, is an existing composting and organic processing facility and potential future RNG expansion project which has been operating near Pemberton, British Columbia, on Lil’wat Nation land since 2012. The Lil’wat Nation is a key partner and supporter of the facility, which has employed a majority of its staff from the First Nation since inception. The Sea to Sky Soils facility processed approximately 160 percent of its forecast tonnage in the second half of 2021. In total, Sea to Sky Soils processed approximately 36,000 tons of organic waste in 2021. The facility is working with the Ministry of Environment to expand its operational capacity in 2022. EverGen has partnered with local municipalities – including Metro Vancouver and the municipality of Pemberton – for the delivery of additional organic waste to the facility. The facility is an important part of EverGen’s RNG infrastructure platform and serves as a source of valuable feedstock to support the company’s existing and future operations.

Market Outlook

A report from Global Market Insights states that the biogas market is projected to see significant growth over the next few years, driven by a shifting preference to utilize biogas to reduce emission levels from traditional fuels. Escalating RNG usage by gas utilities as a sustainable and low carbon alternative to supply heat and electricity in industries and buildings will further stimulate growth. RNG is increasingly deployed across the transport sector, especially for heavy vehicles and vessels, to abate GHG emissions.

Many North American gas utilities have set RNG targets of 5% to 15% of production by volume in 2030, compared to less than 1% by volume in 2020. FortisBC has a goal of including 15% RNG in its gas supply by 2030. EverGen believes this presents a potential C$16 billion+ opportunity for RNG producers.

Energy Fuels Inc. (NYSE American: UUUU) (TSX: EFR),based in Lakewood, Colorado, is the country’s largest producer of uranium and the leading conventional producer of vanadium, both designated by the U.S. government as critical minerals.

As the leading U.S. diversified uranium miner, Energy Fuels’ uranium production portfolio stands apart in the world. Energy Fuels has more uranium production facilities, more production capacity, and more in-ground resources than any other company in the United States. In fact, the company’s assets have produced over one-third of all U.S. uranium over the past 15 years and is uniquely positioned to increase production to meet new demand.

Energy Fuels utilizes both conventional and in-situ recovery (“ISR”) technology to produce uranium from three strategic facilities:

  • White Mesa Mill in Utah (conventional) has a licensed capacity of over 8 million pounds of U3O8 per year. The highly strategic White Mesa Mill is the only conventional uranium mill in the country and is proximate to some of the largest and highest-grade uranium mines and projects in the U.S., including the Company’s Canyon mine, La Sal Complex, Henry Mountains Complex and Roca Honda Project. White Mesa Mill provides Energy Fuels with significant production scalability as uranium demand increases. The White Mesa Mill also has other diverse businesses, including vanadium, rare earth elements (REE’s), alternate feed materials recycling and land cleanup, all described below.
  • Nichols Ranch Plant (ISR) is located in the productive Powder River Basin district of Wyoming and has a total licensed capacity of 2 million pounds of U3O8 per year. Nichols Ranch has produced 1.2 million pounds of U3O8 since commissioning in 2014, and it has significant future expansion potential from 34 fully licensed wellfields containing significant in-ground uranium resources.
  • Alta Mesa Plant (ISR) is located on over 200,000 acres of private land in Texas. The fully licensed and constructed ISR project has a total operating capacity of 1.5 million pounds of uranium per year and produced nearly 5 million pounds of U3O8 between 2005 and 2013. This low-cost production facility is currently on standby, maintained in a state of readiness to respond to expected increases in demand.

In addition to being the largest uranium miner in the U.S., Energy Fuels’ overall portfolio also includes a pipeline of high-quality, large-scale exploration and development projects that are permitted or are in advanced stages of permitting, as well as an industry-leading U.S. NI 43-101 Mineral Resource portfolio.

FACTOID: Energy Fuels has led industry efforts over the past two-plus years to get the U.S. government to recognize the importance of domestically produced uranium, including the 2018 – 2019 Uranium Section 232, the ongoing Nuclear Fuel Working Group and the recently announced creation of the U.S. strategic uranium reserve. The U.S. is by far the largest consumer of uranium in the world, yet we import almost all of our requirements; Energy Fuels aims to change that.

Nuclear Market Potential

Multiple studies in top scientific journals have shown that nuclear power is cleanest and most economical way to produce reliable electricity as worldwide demand continues to soar. Nuclear power is presently the only available and affordable low-carbon power source that can meet both current and future baseload electricity demands while simultaneously reducing air pollution and mitigating climate change. U.S. nuclear power plants currently generate nearly 20% of the nation’s electricity overall and 55% of its carbon‐free electricity and even a modest increase in electricity demand would require significant new nuclear capacity by 2025. According to the World Nuclear Association (WNA), there are currently 441 operable reactors, with another 54 units under construction and 439 in various stages of planning; in addition, the WNA has identified a potentially massive supply/demand gap through 2040 of 1 billion pounds. These factors among others are expected to significantly drive increased demand for uranium.

Reasons Nuclear is Gaining Traction

  • Nuclear reactors emit no greenhouse gases during operation. Over their full lifetimes, they result in comparable emissions to renewable forms of energy such as wind and solar.
  • Unlike any other form of energy, the waste from nuclear energy is contained and managed securely. Used fuel is currently being safely stored for ultimate disposal or future reprocessing, and 96% of this waste can potentially be recycled.
  • Greater demand for clean electricity to power everything from homes to automobiles, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

No. 1 U.S. Producer of Vanadium in 2019

Energy Fuels also produces vanadium as a byproduct of uranium production. Vanadium is designated a critical mineral, essential to the economic and national security of the United States. Energy Fuels was the largest producer of vanadium in the U.S. in 2019, and has significant high-grade, in-ground vanadium resources, as well as a separate high-purity vanadium production circuit at their White Mesa Mill, which is also the only conventional vanadium mill in the country. Crucial for use in the steel, aerospace, and chemical industries, vanadium plays a critical role in the production of high-strength and light-weight metallic alloys and demand is expected to increase across the globe.

Energy Fuels has several fully permitted and developed standby mines containing large quantities of high-grade vanadium, along with uranium, including:

  • La Sal Complex (Utah)
  • Whirlwind Mine (Colorado/Utah)
  • Rim Mine (Colorado)

Vanadium has also gained increased attention as a catalyst in next-generation high-capacity, “community-scale” batteries used for energy storage generated from renewable sources. Demand is only expected to grow as this market expands. With recent upgrades in its vanadium production operations, in 2019 Energy Fuels produced commercial levels of the highest purity (99.7%) vanadium in the mill’s history and can rapidly adjust production to meet volatile market conditions. Energy Fuels is one of the very few known avenues that provides investors access the vanadium market.

Rare Earth Element (REE) Production, Alternate Feed Material Recycling, and Land Cleanup

The White Mesa Mill also provides the company with diverse cashflow generating opportunities. Security of supply for Rare Earth Elements (REEs) supporting U.S. military and defense requirements is a major issue today. Energy Fuels has been approached by a number of entities, including the U.S. government, inquiring about the potential to process certain REEs at the mill. The White Mesa Mill is currently licensed to process certain REEs, including tantalum and niobium. And, early indications are that the mill can be utilized to produce several other REEs. The White Mesa Mill is also the only facility in North America licensed and capable of recycling alternate feed materials (AFMs). AFMs are essentially low-level waste materials that contain recoverable quantities of natural (or unenriched) uranium. The Company typically generates between $5 and $15 million per year from AFM recycling. Finally, Energy Fuels is seeking to become involved in the cleanup of legacy Cold War era uranium mines in the Four Corners region of the U.S., including on the Navajo Nation. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has access to over $1.5 billion for the cleanup of just a fraction of the sites on the Navajo Nation. The White Mesa Mill is fully licensed to receive much of this material, we are one of the government’s lowest cost options, and we have the ability to recycle the material and produce usable uranium from it.

An estimated 8% of Americans aged 18 years and older suffer from chronic pain so severe that itlimits their day-to-day activities. Epidemiological studiesestimate that the overall prevalence of chronic pain among Americanadults is between 18% and 34.5%. For most of these people, opioids are the most common way tomanage their chronic pain enough to engage in daily activities. However, opioids aren’t always effective, and they carry a significant risk of addiction and unwanted side effects. Aside from causing side effects such as nausea, mental fog andconstipation, opioids are incredibly addictive, especially forpeople who take them long-term. In addition, at high enough doses, opioids can slow down your heart rate and breathing, and even cause death. Data from the National Institute on DrugAbuse shows that, since 1999, the opioid pandemic has claimed more than 932,000 lives due to overdose. These clinical challenges partly driveseveral companies such as CNS Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: CNSP) to develop new treatments that better address the needs ofpatients while reducing the side effects that come withmedications.

CNS Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: CNSP) is a clinical stage biotechnology company specializing in the development of novel treatments for primary and metastatic cancers of the brain and central nervous system.

The company was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Organ Targeted Therapeutics

The company’s lead drug candidate, Berubicin, is proposed for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (“GBM”), an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer. Berubicin also has potential to treat other central nervous system malignancies. Based on limited clinical data, Berubicin appears to be the first anthracycline to cross the blood brain barrier in the adult brain, and it was the subject of a successful Phase 1 study which found the MDT and produced efficacy data as well.

CNS holds a worldwide exclusive license to the Berubicin chemical compound. The company has acquired all requisite data and know-how from Reata Pharmaceuticals Inc. related to a completed Phase I clinical trial of Berubicin in malignant brain tumors. In this trial, 44% of patients experienced a statistically significant improvement in clinical benefit. In 2017, CNS entered into a collaboration and asset purchase agreement with Reata.

CNS intends to explore the potential of Berubicin to treat other diseases, including pancreatic and ovarian cancers and lymphoma. The company is also examining plans to develop combination therapies that include Berubicin.

CNS estimates that more than $25 million in private capital and grants were invested in Berubicin prior to the company’s $9.8 million IPO in November 2019.

CNS intends to submit an IND for Berubicin during the fourth quarter of 2020 and expects to commence a Phase II clinical trial of Berubicin for the treatment of GBM in the U.S. in Q1 2021. A sub-licensee partner was awarded a $6 million EU/Polish National Center for Research and Development grant to undertake a Phase II trial of Berubicin in adults and a first-ever Phase I trial in pediatric GBM patients in Poland in 2021.

The company’s second drug candidate, WP1244, is a novel DNA binding agent licensed from the MD Anderson Cancer Center. In preclinical studies, WP1244 proved to be 500-times more potent than the chemotherapeutic agent, daunorubicin, in inhibiting tumor cell proliferation. The company has entered into a sponsored research agreement with the MD Anderson Cancer Center to further the development of WP1244.

CNS Pharmaceuticals recently engaged U.S.-based Pharmaceutics International Inc. and Italian BSP Pharmaceuticals SpA for the production of the Berubicin drug product. The company has implemented a dual-track manufacturing strategy to mitigate COVID-19-related risks, diversify its supply chain and provide for localized availability of Berubicin. CNS has already completed synthesis of Berubicin’s active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and has shipped the API to both manufacturers in order to prepare an injectable form of Berubicin for clinical use.

Global Brain Tumor Therapeutics Market

The high recurrence rate of malignant brain tumors is due to reappearance of focal masses, indicating that a sub-population of tumor cells in these cancers may be insensitive to current therapies and may be responsible for reinitiating tumor growth. This necessitates the development of newer drugs in the market that demonstrate greater efficacy in treating such aggressive cancers.

A global increase in neurological disorders has placed increased attention on cancers of the brain over the past decade. Neurological disorders are becoming one of the most prevalent types of disorders, due to longer life expectancy, greater exposure to infection and an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Because few treatments for primary and metastatic cancers of the brain exist, costs are high and have acted as a restraint for the brain tumor therapeutics market.

Despite progress in surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapeutic strategies, effective treatments for brain cancer are limited by a lack of specific therapies for the brain and the difficulty in transporting therapeutic compounds across the blood brain barrier. Therefore, there is a significant need for novel and effective therapeutic drugs and strategies that prolong survival and improve quality of life for brain tumor patients.

Several companies are making significant investments into R&D, which is expected to bring more treatment options to the market in the near future. Industry reports consistently project continued growth in the market.

One report estimates that the global brain tumor therapeutics market will reach a valuation of $2.74 billion in 2023, with the market expected to register a CAGR of 11% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2023. Another report projects that the global brain tumor therapeutics market will reach $3.4 billion by 2025, up from $2.25 billion in 2019 (http://nnw.fm/eDUjp).

Company Mission – Reimagining Public Safety

Knightscope’s long-term vision has an eye on the greater good. The company’s mission is to make the United States of America the safest nation in the world while supporting the 2+ million law enforcement and security professionals across the country.

Crime has an estimated negative economic impact in excess of $2 trillion annually. As crime is reduced, positive impacts will likely be realized across several aspects of society, including housing, financial markets, insurance, municipal budgets, local business and safety in general.

Knightscope CEO William Santana Li was interviewed by Kevin O’Leary, more commonly known as Shark Tank’s Mr. Wonderful. When asked to explain how the benefits provided by the ASRs outrank a human doing the same job, Li said, “First, just the simple presence of a physical deterrent causes criminal behavior to change. Second, the machines are self-driving cars that patrol all around and recharge themselves. They also generate 90 terabytes of data per year. No human would ever be able to process that. The robots are intended to be eyes and ears for the humans, not a one-to-one replacement.”

The Knightscope solution to reduce crime combines the physical presence of ASRs, sometimes referred to as proprietary Autonomous Data Machines, with real-time onsite data collection and analysis. The ASRs are fitted with eye-level 360° cameras, thermal scanning, public address announcements and various other features that work in tandem with humans to provide law enforcement officers and security guards unprecedented situational awareness.

Those 90 terabytes of data are then formatted in a useable way, so law enforcement can leverage that information and execute their responsibilities more effectively.

Public Safety Innovation

The company’s recurring revenue business model is set up to mimic the recurring societal problem of crime, and it takes into consideration the fact that innovation in the security and public safety industry has been stagnant for decades. Because the traditional practices of the sector have remained unchanged for years, automation has potential to drive substantial cost savings – and significant improvement in capabilities.

Human security guards are one of both the largest expenses and the largest liabilities for companies. Knightscope’s robots are offered at an effective price of $3 to $9 per hour, compared with approximately $85 for an armed off-duty law enforcement officer and $15 to $35 for an unarmed security guard.

This innovation has the potential to drive considerable cost savings. Based on these estimates, manufacturing costs can be recovered as soon as the first year of operation.

Product Offerings

The company has nine patents and a framework of unique intellectual property. Knightscope currently offers a K1 stationary machine, a K3 indoor machine and a K5 outdoor machine. A K7 multi-terrain four-wheel version is in development.

The ASRs autonomously patrol client sites without the need for remote control, providing a visible, force multiplying, physical security presence to help protect assets, monitor changes in the area and deter crime. The data is accessible through the Knightscope Security Operations Center (KSOC), an intuitive, browser-based interface that enables security professionals to review events generated by the ASRs providing effectively ‘mobile smart eyes and ears’. Learn more at www.knightscope.com/ksoc

The ASRs and the related technologies were developed ground up by the company and are Made in the USA.

The Robot Roadshow

Knightscope has created the ultimate hybrid physical and virtual event, bringing its Autonomous Security Robot technologies to cities across the country for interactive and in-person demonstrations.

Each roadshow landing is hosted virtually by a Knightscope expert, and visitors can interact directly with each of the company’s ASRs and see the Knightscope Security Operations Center (KSOC) user interface in action. Learn more at www.knightscope.com/roadshow

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight India Globalization Capital Inc. (NYSE American: IGC).

Cannabis reform activists in Wyoming ran into a wall after twomeasures meant to legalize medical marijuana and decriminalize cannabis possession failed to make it to the 2024 ballot. Wyoming NORML, one of theprimary sponsors of the cannabis legalization measures, said lastweek that activists collected enough signatures to qualify for theballot. However, the organizers did not gather enough petitions in two-thirds of Wyoming counties to meet the state’s requiredminimum percentage. The activists said that despite failing to getthe measures on next year’s ballot, they will continue working withlawmakers in the upcoming legislative session to bring thelegislation to the floor and before voters in upcoming electioncycles. Wyoming NORML executive director Bennett Sondeno noted that the road to cannabisreform in Wyoming will be difficult. He stated that althoughcannabis reformists in the state have plenty of backers in both theHouse and Senate, they have been prevented from acting withcompassion and justice by “powerful string pullers and funders.”Still, Sondeno continued, it was important for cannabis reformactivists to keep the push for a ballot measure alive, stating thatthe campaign is hoping to work with state legislators to giveWyoming residents a chance to vote on cannabis legalization. Healso said that the campaign is currently raising funds forprofessional petitioners to ensure that voters have the chance todecide on cannabis reform even if lawmakers remain resistant to thenotion. For patients in Wyoming who had hoped to access medicalmarijuana soon, not all is lost. Many companies, such as India Globalization Capital Inc. (NYSE American: IGC), are focusing on making pharmaceutical-grade medicines fromdifferent cannabinoids such as THC, and once those medicines areapproved by the FDA, they will be readily available across thecountry by prescription.

India Globalization Capital Inc. (NYSE American: IGC), through subsidiary IGC Pharma, develops, patents, and markets advanced THC-based drug formulations for the treatment of symptoms related to various diseases including but not limited to Alzheimer’s disease, Tourette syndrome, chronic pain, and pet seizures.

IGC’s leading drug candidate, IGC-AD1, has completed Phase 1 of a safety and tolerability trial and entered Phase 2 trials for treating agitation in patients with Alzheimer’s dementia, the first study in humans of a natural tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) compound plus another molecule (www.clinicaltrials.gov). As of September 2022, the IGC trial is the only ongoing Phase 2 trial of a natural THC-based formulation on Alzheimer’s patients.

The company’s other drug candidate, TGR-63, is an enzyme inhibitor that has shown in preclinical trials the potential to reduce neurotoxicity in Alzheimer’s cell lines. Both drug candidates have shown their ability to ameliorate beta amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s cell lines and improve memory in Alzheimer’s mouse models. Beta amyloid plaques are a key hallmark of Alzheimer’s and an important target of Alzheimer’s pharmaceutical drug development.

Neuro Psychiatric Symptoms (NPS) are not only debilitating for Alzheimer’s patients; they also place an immense emotional burden on their caregivers. Beyond reducing symptoms, IGC-AD1’s active molecules and TGR-63 have also shown promise in preclinical trials to reduce important hallmarks of Alzheimer’s including plaques and tangles, as well as improving the treatment of memory loss.

Over the past eight years, the IGC team has amassed a deep knowledge of cannabinoid science, including extraction, isolation, purification, and development. The company’s strategy is to leverage its unique end-to-end capabilities, platform, and expertise to develop a class-leading program and bring it to market quickly and cost efficiently to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

The company also has a family of cannabidiol (CBD)-based consumer products (www.Holief.com) such as pain relief creams, pain relief gels, purpose gummies, tinctures, and capsules targeting women’s wellness, with a particular focus on premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and dysmenorrhea (period cramps). In addition, the company targets individuals that need sleep-aids with its specially formulated low melatonin cannabinoid gummies.

IGC has also introduced a low-calorie CBD- and caffeine-infused energy beverage brand (www.SundaySeltzer.com) that is currently available for purchase. The company’s brands are founded on the belief that effective natural solutions should be affordable and accessible to everyone. As the demand for natural products targeting women’s wellness and energy drinks continue to grow, these products are seeing strong traction in the market.

The company operates three facilities – a large GMP (Good Manufacturing Production Standards) certified facility that includes extraction, distillation, and manufacturing, in Washington State; a GMP-211 (pharmaceutical) grade facility in Maryland; and a facility licensed for controlled substances including cannabis in Bogota, Colombia, with complete access to legal licensed cannabis where the company conducts its testing.

In addition, the company’s development under Magistral Formulations is approved by INVIMA (Colombia National Food and Drug Surveillance Institute) to treat neurological disorders, non-oncological chronic pain, and mental disorders.

IGC’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio comprises of eight patents that it controls and seven patent applications. The portfolio includes #11,446,276, a patent for extreme low dose THC treatment of Alzheimer’s that was granted in September 2022.

The company is headquartered in Potomac, Maryland.

IGC-AD1

IGC-AD1 is the company’s leading drug candidate for the treatment and relief of Alzheimer’s symptoms. A significant amount of research on Alzheimer’s cell lines has shown that the active agents in IGC-AD1 reduce plaques and neurofibrillary tangles that are the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s. Further, micro-dosing of THC, as shown in cell lines, could increase the functioning of mitochondria and potentially promote the growth of new neural pathways (neurogenesis). The research shows that micro-dosing of THC affects the brain radically differently from the normal higher dosing of THC.

While there is a significant body of research showing that THC is neuro-toxic at normal levels of dosing, micro-dosing of THC has been shown to be non-toxic to neurons. With the results of these preclinical studies, the company developed an oral formulation, IGC-AD1. The company recently completed a safety and tolerability Phase 1 trial on Alzheimer’s patients and has initiated a Phase 2, multi-site, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of the safety and efficacy of IGC-AD1 on agitation in participants with dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease at sites in the U.S. and Canada. IGC expects the Phase 2 trial to take between 9 and 12 months to complete, barring unknown factors such as, for example, a resurgence of COVID and the enforcement of lockdowns and travel restrictions.

With further successful trials and FDA approvals, IGC hopes to bring a drug based on natural THC as an effective treatment for agitation in Alzheimer’s to market.

TGR-63

The company’s other molecule, TGR-63, has been shown to reduce the neurotoxicity that impacts memory loss in preclinical trials with mice. On a dose dependent manner, transgenic Alzheimer’s mice treated with TGR-63 showed improvement in memory relative to control.

Both drug candidates, IGC-AD1 and TGR-63, have shown their ability to reduce the brain plaques associated with memory loss in Alzheimer’s in mice.

With further successful trials and FDA approvals, IGC hopes to bring TGR-63 as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease to market.

Market Opportunity

Alzheimer’s disease impacts over 55 million people worldwide and about 5.5 million individuals in the U.S. Over 70% of these patients face debilitating symptoms, including anxiety, depression, and agitation (Mendez, 2021). Agitation in dementia patients can include excessive physical movement and verbal activity, restlessness, pacing, belligerence, aggression, screaming, crying, and wandering.

In 2020, the estimated healthcare costs for Alzheimer’s disease in the U.S. were $305 billion. Medicare and Medicaid covered about 70% of those costs, leaving considerable burden on patients and families. At the current rate of growth of Alzheimer’s and other dementia diagnoses, those costs are estimated to reach over $1 trillion by 2050.

Currently, there are no FDA-approved medications to alleviate the symptoms of dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease, providing a tremendous opportunity for formulations that can have an impact on quality of life and disease progression.

Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX).

The North Carolina Senate has approved a bill to legalize medical marijuana in the state and sent it to theHouse. The legislation was first filed by Senate Rules andOperations Committee Chairman Bill Rabon last year and was clearedby the Senate before being blocked by House Republicans.Rabon refiled the bill in late January amid statements from a key chamber leader that thebill was “well-constructed” and addresses a lot of key concerns. The medical marijuana billwas approved by three separate committees and received initial approval on the Senate floor a day before advancing in a 36–10 vote. Many players in thecannabis industry as well as those in ancillary niches such as Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX) are likely to follow the events in the North Carolina legislatureclosely to see how the bill fares.

Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX) is in the business of selling and distributing self-contained, automated, indoor “micro-farms” called Grow Pods, along with related equipment and supplies. Additionally, the company designs and sells patented proprietary medical-grade plastic containers, known as the Medtainer®, that store and grind pharmaceuticals, herbs, teas and other solids or liquids.

ACTX is the leading distributor of Grow Pods. With a controlled environment, food and herbs can be grown without pesticides, harmful chemicals or risk of pathogen contamination, and with low energy consumption. Restaurants, grocery stores, non-profits, MSOs and entrepreneurs can use Grow Pods to ensure a fresh supply of ultra-clean produce year-round.

The company entered the Grow Pod business in October 2020 with its acquisition of all shares of Advanced Container Technologies Inc., a California corporation. As of February 28, 2022, ACTX is exploring the acquisition of the assets and the assumption of some or all of the liabilities of GP Solutions Inc., the developer and manufacturer of Grow Pods, for which ACTX is currently the sole U.S. distributor.

Because Grow Pods can be located almost anywhere, produce can be grown closer to the point of consumption and harvested at its peak, providing nutritious fruits and vegetables where needed. Indoor micro-farms, utilizing a practice known as vertical farming, have attracted the attention of governments and universities, which are now promoting vertical farming as a way to combat food insecurity and inequities.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has stated that vertical farming “is no longer a futuristic concept.” The department is enthusiastic about vertical farming, particularly those utilizing repurposed shipping containers, such as Grow Pods. Arizona State University reports that vertical farming reduces water use by 90 percent compared to conventional farming but produces 10 times the crop yield.

Products

Grow Pods

One of the company’s main business units is focused on selling advanced, self-contained hydroponic containers called Grow Pods. These unique and innovative automated systems are essentially micro-farms that can be placed virtually anywhere and, with their controlled and specially filtered environment, allow cultivation of a wide variety of crops, 365 days a year. The Grow Pod controlled environment offers major advantages for the production of high-value crops. The ability to grow year-round and the ability to cultivate in a smaller footprint using less water and power are some of the primary advantages of the system. Grow Pods offer constant temperature, humidity and airflow control, as well as automated watering and lighting schedules for optimal growth and minimal labor requirements, regardless of crop.

Containers

ACTX meets the needs of the pharmaceutical and medical markets, including the cannabis and hemp industries, with patented packaging systems. The company designs, customizes, brands and sells proprietary medical grade plastic containers that can store pharmaceuticals, herbs, teas and other solids or liquids, with a special built-in feature that can grind solids and shred herbs. The company’s flagship container product is the patented Medtainer®, a child resistant, medical-grade herb container and grinder that is water-tight, air-tight and smell proof. Packaging in the cannabis industry is critical, with numerous stringent regulations about how cannabis products must be packaged and labeled. ACTX also offers custom-branded, compliant vacuum seal bags and other retail container solutions.

Equipment and Supplies

ACTX markets and sells two principal products: Grow Pods, which are specially modified insulated shipping containers manufactured by GP Solutions Inc., in which plants, herbs and spices may be grown hydroponically in a controlled environment, and Medtainers®, which may be used to store pharmaceuticals, herbs, teas and other solids or liquids and can grind solids and shred herbs. The company also markets and sells various products related to Grow Pods and the Medtainer®, as well as providing private labeling and branding services for purchasers of Medtainers® and certain related products.

GP Solutions manufactures and sells other products, such as humidity controllers and LED lighting systems for vertical farming. The company’s specially designed lighting panels are programmed to emit the exact wavelength of light that each crop requires. The system has a daybreak-to-nightfall feature that gives plants the proper chromatic signals to grow rapidly and fruitfully. High efficiency LED light strips supply the crops with a red and blue light spectrum required for photosynthesis in the spectrum that plants need most.

FuelPositive Corp. (TSX.V: NHHH) (OTC: NHHHF)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight FuelPositive Corp. (NHHHF).

FuelPositive Corp. (TSX.V: NHHH) (OTC: NHHHF) is a growth stage company focused on licensing, partnership and acquisition opportunities building upon various technological achievements. The company is committed to providing commercially viable and sustainable clean energy solutions, including carbon-free ammonia (NH3), for use across a broad spectrum of industries and applications.

FuelPositive is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Hydrogen Economy Problems and FuelPositive’s Carbon-Free Technology

The hydrogen economy is currently facing many challenges. Traditional NH3 manufacturing exists on a massive scale, but centralized facilities result in some of the world’s most concentrated CO2 emissions. In total, an estimated 200 million metric tonnes of NH3 are consumed each year, with greater than 80% utilized by the agricultural sector. NH3 is also being positioned as a viable alternative to fossil fuels.

FuelPositive’s flagship carbon-free ammonia technology provides an innovative solution to these environmental concerns. Developed by Dr. Ibrahim Dincer and his team, the company’s platform allows for the in-situ production of NH3 in an entirely sustainable manner, using only water, air and sustainable electricity.

The production of hydrogen is energy intensive, but it is just one variable hindering the growth of the hydrogen economy. Other hurdles include:

  • Storage – The storage of hydrogen by compression or liquification are both cost prohibitive and unsustainable.
  • Distribution – The distribution network for effective hydrogen deployment has yet to be developed, as the extreme high-pressure distribution requirements to transport hydrogen would result in enormous infrastructure costs.
  • End Use – R&D on the transportation-related end use applications for hydrogen is in its infancy, but almost any vehicle on the road today can be easily converted to run on NH3 at a considerably lower cost per mile traveled when compared to traditional fossil fuels.

A key benefit of FuelPositive’s patent-pending, first-of-its-kind carbon-free NH3 technology is its flexibility. The process allows for small, medium or large-scale production of NH3 on location, minimizing or even eliminating the challenges and volatility associated with storage and transportation to end use. As such, with an appropriately sized FuelPositive system and access to renewable energy, the end use applications for the company’s platform are nearly infinite.

Manufacturing Partnership

On May 19, 2021, FuelPositive announced its selection of National Compressed Air Canada Ltd. (“NCA”) to undertake manufacturing of the company’s Phase 2 hydrogen-ammonia synthesizer commercial prototype systems for carbon-free ammonia production.

In a news release detailing the partnership, FuelPositive CEO Ian Clifford noted, “This critical milestone for FuelPositive will confirm the broad application potential for our technology and is the backbone of our Carbon-Free Hydrogen-NH3 offering. Partnering with the knowledgeable and experienced team at NCA on this commercialization project will bring our development-stage program to life.”

Global Ammonia Market Outlook

The global ammonia market was valued at $52.71 billion in 2017 and is forecast to reach $81.42 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 5.59%, according to data from Fior Markets (https://ibn.fm/1OfOB).

The agricultural industry consumes more than 80% of global NH3. Smaller percentages can be attributed to the waste, water treatment, refrigerants, antiseptic, textile, mining and pharmaceutical industries.

One of the most polluting industries on the planet consists of conventional agribusinesses. These polluters are responsible for more greenhouse emissions per year than transportation. This is where FuelPositive’s technology is expected to be extremely beneficial.

Management Team

Ian Clifford is Director, CEO and Founder of FuelPositive Corp. Laredo Oil Inc. (OTC: LRDC)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Laredo Oil Inc. (LRDC).

Laredo Oil Inc. (OTC: LRDC) is a publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) company engaging in the acquisition and development of both undervalued quality conventional oil and gas properties and select mature oil fields that are suitable for the company’s proprietary Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods.

Laredo Oil is headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Conventional Acreage

Laredo Oil’s primary focus is on acquiring, developing, and operating undervalued conventional oil and gas properties.

The company leased 23,739 mineral acres in the Western Williston Basin of Montana, at favorable prices during the most recent down cycle and continues to take leases in the area. Before year end, it expects to drill the first development well at one of the first of 10 potential locations it has identified. If that well yields the anticipated results, the company plans to begin drilling additional wells there as soon as practical thereafter. The company believes the leased acreage has the potential to yield at least five years of development opportunities.

The company intends to pursue aggressively the acquisition of quality assets that major, mid-major, and large independent oil and gas companies continue to divest themselves of at a discount in response to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governmental) & sustainability initiatives and other pressures imposed upon them by their activist boards of directors. The company will focus on value, growth potential and free cash flow while complying with common sense ESG policies, often having a lower environmental impact than its competitors through its EOR methods.

EOR

In addition to pursuing conventional acreage and properties, Laredo Oil plans to acquire additional select mature oil fields where it believes that it can profitably use its proprietary Underground Gravity Drainage™ (UGD) model to recover stranded oil reserves (reserves previously considered to be economically incapable of recovery). The UGD method is applicable to mature oil fields that have very specific geological and reservoir characteristics.

Laredo Oil has done extensive research and field level application over the last 10 years and has identified specific oil fields within the United States that it believes are qualified for the UGD recovery method. The company believes the costs of implementing the UGD method are significantly lower than those of other commonly used EOR methods. Laredo Oil believes that it can materially increase the field oil production rate from prior periods and, in some cases, recover amounts of oil equal to or greater than amounts previously recovered from the mature fields selected.

Market Outlook

The company expects U.S. oil prices to climb in the near term as energy demand intensifies with the economy continuing to recover from the COVID-19 slowdown. Also causing upward price pressure is global supply chain dysfunction that slows or prevents shipments, including energy components, from reaching destinations. Domestic oil production is also constrained by years of reduced investment in fossil fuel producers due to green energy mandates. Accordingly, the company believes that the short-term outlook for oil is favorable. Many industries have yet to reach their pre-COVID production levels, which the company believes points to a continuing near-term upward trend in energy demand.
