These two have a collective market capitalization of greater than $1.7 billion. Concerning Western Australia, Sayona Mining has 17 tenements in the Pilbara Region, covering a total area of 1918km2. Of these, nine were acquired by way of a deal with Great Sandy, with the Mallina Project – E47/2983, being the flagship project.

The East Kimberley Graphite Project is Sayona’s strategic entry into the graphite market. In 2015, the Company announced a strategic entry into the large flake graphite market through securing a large ground position in the East Kimberley area of Western Australia. The Kimberley region is a proven province for high purity, large flake graphite.

The East Kimberley project is 240 kilometers south of Wyndham Port and 220 kilometers south-south-west of the regional center, Kununurra. The Project includes one granted tenement and three separate tenement applications. The Project covers 278 km2. It comprises two areas, Keller and Corkwood. Elto Pharma has development rights to eltoprazine. In addition, eltoprazine is undergoing evaluation for the treatment of adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Alzheimer’s aggression.

The Company’s diagnostics division is Amarantus Diagnostics. Its lead diagnostic product is LymPro Test®. This is a blood-based assay to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease. LymPro Test® is approved for investigational use only to be used in biotechnology and pharmaceutical clinical trials.

Recently, Amarantus Bioscience announced that based upon its review of the clinical data from a German-based clinical study led by Leipzig University's Dr. Thomas Arendt, it exercised its Exclusive Option with Leipzig to negotiate license rights to Alzheimer's blood diagnostic "LymPro Test 2.0," that compares traditional LymPro Test results with those of amyloid PET imaging for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.

Amarantus Bioscience and Leipzig University agreed to broaden the scope of license negotiations to include additional key markers collected during the clinical study. This includes CSF-tau.

Amarantus Bioscience recently received an independent third-party valuation report that valued the Parkinson's disease levodopa-induced dyskinesia (PD-LID) indication for Eltoprazine in the United States and Europe at $316 million. Company management has outlined two distinct paths for Elto Pharma to get as much value for the Eltoprazine asset for Amarantus Bioscience as possible.

One path is standalone private funding followed by a U.S. or Hong Kong-based IPO. The second path may be a business combination with an established clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with strong management and a first-rate pipeline in which Amarantus Bioscience could become a major shareholder. Amarantus Bioscience expects to make a final determination on the capital formation plan for Elto Pharma this summer.

LuViva® scans the cervix with light. It utilizes spectroscopy to measure how light interacts with the cervical tissue. Spectroscopy identifies chemical and structural indicators of pre-cancer, which may be below the surface of the cervix or misdiagnosed as benign.

This technique is called biophotonics. Biophotonics is the science of generating and harnessing light to image, detect, as well as manipulate biological materials. 

The LuViva® Advanced Cervical Scan technology (in a multi-center clinical trial, with women at risk for cervical disease) was able to detect cervical cancer up to two years earlier than conventional modalities, according to published reports. The device is used in combination with the LuViva® Cervical Guide single-use patient interface and calibration disposable.  

The LuViva® Advanced Cervical Scan is under U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Premarket review.  Guided Therapeutics is also developing a non-invasive test for the early detection of esophageal cancer utilizing this technology platform. 

Recently, Guided Therapeutics reported record sales for a quarter in Indonesia; eight LuViva® Advanced Cervical Scans were shipped in Q4 of last year. Furthermore, Indonesia ordered 4,500 single-use Cervical Guides that were shipped along with the LuViva devices.

This increase in orders of high-margin Cervical Guides indicates that installed LuViva units are starting to see more usage in hospitals and clinics. Founded on prior studies and evaluations of LuViva, medical researchers in Indonesia are recommending the LuViva test as an alternative to the Pap test for cervical cancer screening.

In addition, recently, Guided Therapeutics reported that it received Regulatory Approval from the Indian Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to permit commercialization of the LuViva device and disposables. The Ministry concluded that the LuViva device is “Non Invasive” and therefore is “not regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Medical Device Rules 2017 thereunder.” Consequently, LuViva can now be commercialized in India.

Pre-clinical data indicate that PRTX-100 may have the potential to treat ITP through reducing the immune-mediated destruction of the platelets. Protalex has open IND’s for the treatment of RA and ITP in the United States, and in Europe, an open IMPD for ITP. 

Protalex’s PRTX-100 can  (at very low concentrations) bind to human B-lymphocytes and macrophages and to modulate immune processes. PRTX-100 has been granted Orphan Drug Designation in the United States and in Europe for the treatment of ITP. This status provides commercial exclusivity benefits, tax credits for certain research, potential research grants and a waiver of the New Drug Application user fee in the United States. PRTX-100 is administered as a short intravenous infusion.  The following patents have been granted for PRTX-100:  U.S. Patent No. 9,370,552 (‘552 patent) is a continuation patent to initial U.S. patent No. 7,211,258 (Protein A compositions and methods of use) filed in 2002 and issued with method of treatment claims for RA, juvenile RA, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The ‘552 patent expands the method of treatment of PRTX-100 to include type 1 diabetes.  

European Patents No. 2,570,136 and 2,206,511 (national patents in place in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK) includes composition claims relating to numerous autoimmune diseases (RA, ITP, juvenile RA, psoriasis, myasthenia gravis) and dosage expansion.  

Canadian patents No. 2,894,098 and No. 2,481,282 comprise method of treatment claims relating to RA and SLE.  Japanese patent No. 5,523,796 claims compositions for treating psoriasis, scleroderma, Crohn’s Disease, myasthenia gravis, ulcerative colitis, psoriatic arthritis, as well as pemphigus vulgaris.

Recently, Protalex announced that following a planned interim analysis of data from the fourth dose cohort of its European Phase 1b study of PRTX-100 (PRTX-100-203 Study) in adults with persistent/chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP), it initiated enrollment in the fifth and highest dose cohort of this dose-escalating study.

The first patient in the final cohort was recently dosed in the United Kingdom at 24 micrograms/kg. This the highest dose of PRTX-100 used in any clinical trial to date. One of the three patients treated in the fourth dose cohort (18 micrograms/kg) attained a protocol defined platelet response.

The Company entered into a contract with Quantec Geoscience Argentina S.A. to conduct a 19 point TEM (VES) seismic survey in early January 2018. This work will be completed by February 2018. Preliminary tenders have been received from several drilling companies for an eight hole program of 3,200 meters.

Recently, A.I.S. Resources announced that seismic testing detected three distinct aquifers over a wide-ranging region at its Chiron Project in the Pocitos Salar, Salta Province, Argentina.

Michigan – LOIs to invest in multiple strategically located properties that have or are eligible for municipal approvals for provisioning centers in Michigan. The company is currently evaluating 10 to 15 additional municipally approved locations in Michigan that would substantially increase the company's overall presence in the U.S. cannabis space.

Washington State – LOI to purchase assets from PDT Technologies LLC, including extraction and production equipment and rights to lease the current production facility in Port Townsend, Wash. Its Phase 4 expansion project is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 for increased target production capacity of 113,000 kg/year (249,000 lbs)2. As the Company expands its cultivation and processing capacities, Organigram is able to file amendments to the existing facility and each new production area is largely a replica of previously licensed areas, which results in a relatively streamlined and predictable licensing process with Health Canada.

In addition to increased production capacity from Phase 4, Organigram’s Phase 5 expansion includes plans for additional extraction capacity and its own edibles facility. Construction is expected to be substantially completed in October 2019.

Proprietary Technology

The Company’s indoor facility allows for control of all critical facets of the lighting and environmental elements to drive maximum quality and yield in the plants. The Company’s in-house proprietary information technology system, called OrganiGrow, tracks grow cycles, environmental conditions and other factors to optimize cultivation.

Organigram’s development of a shelf-stable, thermally stable, water-soluble and tasteless cannabinoid nano-emulsion formulation may provide for an initial onset of effect within 10 to 15 minutes in a beverage. Non-cannabis formulations with a similar molecule size are water-soluble in humans (i.e., absorbed through the bloodstream rather than requiring first-pass liver metabolism, which results in longer onset and duration uncertainty). The Company expects to receive research and development licensing in the near term, at which point testing will be conducted to confirm the onset and duration.

Organigram has entered into an exclusive consulting agreement with The Green Solution (TGS), a proven market leader based in Denver, Colorado for the development of commercial scale extraction and derivative product development in Canada. Canada is quickly becoming a hub for cannabis investors with over $1.3 billion raised by Canadian companies to date. There are 58 licensed producers to service a population of 36 million and only two organic producers. TGOD also plans to gain a share of the burgeoning cannabis oils market which by Q1 2017 accounted for 49 percent of all cannabis sold in Canada under the ACMPR, up from only 27% in Q2 2016. TGOD has ordered a purpose-built extraction laboratory with an estimated commission in Q4 of 2017. This is a commercial-scale CO2 extraction unit capable of processing up to 12,000 kg of raw material per year and producing approximately $170 million worth of organic cannabis oils. Raw cannabis oil provides a significant downstream manufacturing opportunity into several potential recreational market verticals including edibles, beverages, topicals and concentrates.

Data from the Canadian ACMPR Market Trends report indicates a rising number of consumers will continue to seek out healthier, less conspicuous ways to consume cannabis, ensuring sales of organic cannabis oil products remain brisk. Organic cannabis products demand a significant premium compared to non-organic products and the demand keeps growing.

Plans to take the company public are underway with an initial public offering (IPO) slated for January 2018. In November, the company raised $13 million in equity financing and in March closed a $27 million non-brokered private placement.
