A panel of expert authors is calling on authorities to facilitate the study of psychedelic compounds as cancer distress treatments. In a paper published in the “International Journal of Gynecological Cancer,” the authors noted that women with late-stage gynecologic tumors often deal with mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and end-of-life distress.

As research has found that psychedelics such as psilocybin (magic mushrooms) have the potential to treat mental conditions, including PTSD and treatment-resistant depression, this patient population could benefit from the launch of scientific efforts to study psychedelics’ effects on cancer distress symptoms.

University of Texas Department of head and neck surgery assistant professor and coauthor Moran Amit, MD, PhD, wrote that women with late-stage gynecologic cancers often face significant psychological challenges but have few means of clinically addressing these challenges.

Gynecologic cancers in women typically affect the reproductive system and affect around 100,000 American women every year. In addition, studies show that 23% of patients with gynecological cancers meet the criteria for major depressive disorder. According to a 2018 study, women with early-stage gynecological cancer are just as likely to develop psychological distress as women with late-stage gynecological cancer.

Unfortunately, most conventional treatment protocols for cancer focus on treating physical symptoms, often forcing patients to find means of alleviating mental distress on their own. A  growing body of research indicates that psychedelics present a viable alternative and may have potent mental health benefits with barely any side effects.

Amit pointed to prior studies exhibiting the effectiveness of psilocybin in treating cancer-associated depression and anxiety. These past studies informed Amit’s and his colleague’s decision to begin enrollment for a clinical trial to test the effectiveness of psilocybin in treating mental health challenges in patients with advanced cancer who are currently undergoing maintenance therapy.

During a recent interview, Amit said that while modern cancer treatments are improving treatment outcomes and helping patients live longer, cancer diagnosis and resultant treatment significantly reduce patients’ quality of life. In some cases, cancer survivors can go through treatment and end up with emotional and neurological deficits that make it harder for them to return to their normal lives.

The influx of psychedelic-related studies in recent years has provided “very compelling” findings, Amit said, and psilocybin has been especially effective at treating anxiety, depression, PTSD and even addiction. Furthermore, psilocybin-assisted therapy seems to provide relatively long-term emotional and physical benefits at minimal doses compared to conventional antidepressants, which require everyday use to be effective.

With anywhere from 33% to 71.3% of women with gynecological cancers estimated to suffer from depression, there is a major need for safer and more effective medications to treat gynecologic cancer-associated distress.

As entities such as atai Life Sciences N.V. (NASDAQ: ATAI) continue investigating the therapeutic potential of psychedelics, many more categories of patients could be targeted as primary beneficiaries of the treatments being developed.

atai Life Sciences N.V. (ATAI), closed Tuesday's trading session at $1.63, even for the day, on 482,078 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 8.555M and the stock's 52-week low/high is $1.14/$4.96.

Both gold and silver are precious metals with safe-haven appeal that do not pay dividends or interest and that require investors to pay storage costs. They have a rich history of use as currencies and are currently among the most commonly traded metals and assets in commodity trading.

Investing in silver and gold is a great way to diversify your portfolio and add more stability, especially during times of political and economic upheaval. High demand for gold and silver from the electronics and jewelry industry also makes both metals a great investment outside of their safe haven appeal.

However, despite these similarities, the gold and silver markets often behave in distinctly different ways. The result is that on average, gold and silver prices will trend in the same direction around 70% of the time on a daily basis.

One of the main differences between the two precious metals is that gold primarily functions as an investment and monetary metal. It is mined in significantly higher quantities in gold-dedicated mines compared to silver and is usually a primary earner for gold mines.

Up to 20% of all gold mined is currently stored in central banks around the world as well as official organizations such as the International Monetary Fund. Last year alone, central banks went on a historic gold-buying spree that temporarily caused gold prices to surge.

More than 20 million ounces of gold are regularly traded on the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) compared to 200 million ounces of silver. The LBMA is the largest gold and silver trading market on the globe, and it held gold inventories of 9,032 metric tons with a market value of $558.7 billion at the end of January 2023.

Silver, on the other hand, relies on industrial production for most of its demand (45%) followed by physical investment (27%), jewelry (20%), silverware (6%) and photography (over 6%). Silver is also seeing increased demand due to the proliferation of ecofriendly technologies such as solar panels. As such, investment and monetary demand is not a primary driver for silver prices as it is for gold prices.

While most of the world’s gold is extracted from mines specifically meant for gold, only 30% of newly extracted silver comes from dedicated silver mines while the remaining 70% is a by-or coproduct of mining copper, lead, zinc and gold. For most mines, silver isn’t a primary earner but rather an extra income to offset overhead costs, meaning fluctuations in silver prices often do not affect silver production.

However, for companies such as Hecla Mining Company (NYSE: HL) that produce huge amounts of silver annually, this precious metal is a major earner, and any shifts in the market are watched closely since they affect the bottom line and shareholders.

Hecla Mining Company (HL), closed Tuesday's trading session at $4.0738, off by 0.728611%, on 8,598,844 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 5.067M and the stock's 52-week low/high is $3.41/$7.00.

A national transition from ICE cars to battery electric cars will require significant government and private investment in public charging infrastructure. The automotive industry has had more than a century to build out a widespread network of easily accessible refueling stations compared to the relatively young EV industry.

One main concern among drivers in the United States and other markets is that there simply aren’t enough public chargers to support the current number of electric vehicles on the road. Furthermore, EV drivers regularly report low satisfaction rates with existing charging stations due to issues such as inaccessibility and unreliability.

According to a recent J.D. Power report, customer satisfaction with public Level 2 chargers has declined by 16 points to reach the lowest levels since the firm began polling customer satisfaction levels. The report also found that customer satisfaction with fast chargers is down by 20 points, indicating that EV drivers are dissatisfied with most classes of public chargers.

The firm polled more than 15,000 plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicle owners over the first half of 2022 and measured their satisfaction levels for DC fast charging and Level 2 charging stations. Researchers considered factors such as speed and ease of charging, convenience and availability of the charging station, physical condition of the chargers, ease of payment, cost of charging, location safety and what drivers can do while their vehicles are charging.

They found that even though America’s electric vehicle infrastructure is growing, customers aren’t satisfied with the services they offer. Customers were especially frustrated with the varying number of payment methods and difficulty accessing different charging networks. They also reported dissatisfaction with the time it took to charge their EVs and unreliable charging stations with issues such as broken equipment and long lines.

J.D. Power executive director of EV practice Brent Gruver says that low satisfaction rates with public charging infrastructure could affect electric vehicle acceptance rates among drivers. Speaking to USA TODAY, Gruber argued that the low satisfaction rates were a cautionary statement to the industry that things would get “much worse” if things don’t change. Developing reliable public charging infrastructure will be crucial to accelerating electric vehicle adoption in the U.S.

While installing a private home charger is always an option, it can raise the cost of EV ownership and requires a private garage or parking, something millions of Americans do not have. The scarcity of reliable public chargers has contributed to range anxiety, a phenomenon where people fear running out of power with no charging station in sight, and likely dampened the enthusiasm for electric cars for numerous drivers.

These survey findings give players in the EV industry such as Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) plenty to think about as they develop strategies to reach a bigger section of motorists in different markets both in and outside the country.

Fisker Inc. (FSR), closed Tuesday's trading session at $5.63, even for the day, on 5,157,051 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 2,500 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $4.265/$10.025.

The opportunity exists to remove friction between today’s legacy finance process and the needed clean-energy upgrades developed within the company’s program technologies. For the U.S. to reach its 2050 carbon goals, 200,000 commercial buildings must be retrofitted every year until that date. That represents approximately a 5-10x increase over the 2022 industry process run rate.

CIPI announced completion of its acquisition of 100% of the equity of Correlate Inc. and Loyal Enterprises LLC dba Solar Site Design on December 28, 2021. The company notes these acquisitions occurred at a key inflection point of its growth. CIPI currently enjoys channel and sales partnerships with Fortune 250 companies and a strong, proven industry network.

The company’s transparent, leading-edge model changes value delivery for both facility owners and proven solution providers seeking scale. CIPI believes its rapid growth is due to industry demand for actionable, cashflow positive energy programs and the underlying carbon reduction mandates taking effect globally.

CIPI has filed with the SEC for a name change to Correlate Infrastructure Partners Inc., which will more closely reflect its new platform and growth focus. The company has been aggressively moving to rebrand, with efforts including a revised website, investor presentation materials and an investor relations awareness campaign. The company’s shares will continue to trade on the OTCQB Venture Market under the current ‘CIPI’ ticker symbol until changes are approved.

Market Outlook

CIPI is in a rapidly growing market with a unique offering to address a total market of more than 5.9 million commercial buildings in the United States, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Currently, the company’s wholly owned subsidiaries, Correlate and the Solar Site Design, have an opportunity pipeline of over $100 million in commercial projects with more than $20 million in awarded backlog. According to the Rocky Mountain Institute, portfolio energy optimization is a $290 billion market in the United States driving deep financial savings and energy efficiency across the commercial sector.

Commercial buildings consume more than 35% of the generated electricity in the U.S. and are underperforming in energy efficiency at every level. These buildings waste energy, emit too much carbon, and are too costly for owners and occupants, but retrofits are not happening at the rate or scale needed.

In today’s real estate market, portfolio property owners own most commercial buildings. Yet most building efficiency work is focused on single buildings, thereby missing the distinct needs of this owner class which has very different needs than traditional owner-occupiers. The diverse nature of commercial buildings, combined with technology and performance uncertainty, make simple energy optimization initiatives – which could greatly reduce energy use and improve building value – financially unattractive, resulting in slow adoption rates. CIPI’s financial instruments and software breakdown this issue known as the “split incentive”, unlocking the majority of the addressable market.

Genprex Inc. (GNPX) is a clinical-stage gene therapy company developing potentially life-changing technologies for cancer patients based upon a unique proprietary technology platform, including Genprex’s initial product candidate, Oncoprex™ immunogene therapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Genprex’s platform technologies are designed to administer cancer-fighting genes by encapsulating them into nanoscale hollow spheres called nanovesicles, which are then administered intravenously and taken up by tumor cells where they express proteins that are missing or found in low quantities.

Research and Development

Genprex holds a portfolio of 30 issued and two pending patents covering its technologies and targeted molecular therapies. The company’s research and development program is focused on identifying and developing leading-edge gene therapies that can be used alone or in combination with other therapies for treatment of cancer.

Genprex’s initial product candidate is Oncoprex™, an immunogene therapy for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Oncoprex works by interrupting cell signaling pathways that cause replication and proliferation of cancer cells, re-establishes pathways for apoptosis (or programmed cell death) in cancer cells, and modulates the immune response against cancer cells. Oncoprex has also been shown to block mechanisms that create drug resistance.

Preclinical research is being conducted with the goal of developing Oncoprex to be administered with targeted therapies in other solid tumors, and with immunotherapies in NSCLC and other solid tumors. In addition, Genprex has conducted and plans to continue research into other tumor suppressor genes associated with chromosome 3p21.3, as well as other potential applications of the company’s immunogene therapy platform.

Clinical Trials

Genprex is currently conducting the second phase of a phase I/II clinical trial at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. The company plans to expand its clinical program by adding a new clinical study evaluating Oncoprex™ in combination with a checkpoint inhibitor for treatment of Stage IV or recurrent NSCLC. In research presented at the 2017 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research in Washington, D.C., Genprex’s collaborators showed that TUSC2 in combination with PD-1 checkpoint inhibition has a significantly greater anti-tumor effect in lung cancer than either agent alone. The research also shows that TUSC2 in combination with PD-1 blockade has synergistic activity in upregulating natural killer (NK) cells, correlating with prolonged survival in mice.

TUSC2 (Tumor Suppressor Candidate 2) is a tumor suppressor gene that is absent or deficient in cancer cells of many different cancer types.

The Market

Genprex technologies seek to bridge a critical gap by combining with targeted therapies and immunotherapies to provide treatments to large patient populations who would otherwise not be candidates for those therapies or who have become resistant to them. Genprex technologies are being developed to overcome genomic limitations which are inherent in targeted therapies and immunotherapies in order to provide new treatment solutions to large cancer populations, such as those with lung cancer.

Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. NSCLC is the most common type of lung cancer, accounting for about 85 percent of all lung cancers, according to the American Cancer Society (“ACS”). Despite radical advances in drug development and novel therapeutic standards, survival for late stage lung cancer has not improved significantly in the past 25 years.

Senior Management

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer J. Rodney Varner, JD, is a co-founder of Genprex and has served in these roles since August 2012. He has more than 35 years of legal experience with large and small law firms and as outside general counsel of a Nasdaq-listed company. Varner has served as counsel in company formation, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, other business transactions, protection of trade secrets and other intellectual property, real estate, and business litigation. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Court and the U.S. Tax Court.

Julien L. Pham, M.D., MPH, is president and chief operating officer of Genprex. In March 2013, Dr. Pham co-founded RubiconMD, a healthcare IT company that connects primary care providers to specialists for additional guidance and opinions on medical cases and served as its chief medical officer. He has served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is a board-certified internal medicine doctor and nephrologist.

Reunion Gold Corp. (TSX.V: RGD) (OTCQX: RGDFF)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Reunion Gold Corp. (TSX.V: RGD) (OTCQX: RGDFF) .

Reunion Gold (TSX.V: RGD) (OTCQX: RGDFF), a leading gold explorer in the Guiana Shield, is reporting on the preliminary metallurgical test work results for its Oko West Project in Guyana. According to the announcement, highlights of the report indicate gold extraction for gravity-leach averaged 94.4% (fresh rock), 96.5% (transitional material) and 97.5% (saprolite) with primary grind size of P80 at 75µm resulting in the best gold extractions on average. The company noted that the test work results indicate a deposit with a medium level of hardness, which is typical of other deposits in the Guiana Shield region. G Mining Services Inc. conducted the metallurgical test work program, which was comprised of 18 composite samples totaling 1,200 kilograms. The samples were evaluated using core material from across the deposit representing two gold grades (1 g/t Au and 2 g/t Au) as well as three weathering profiles (saprolite, transitional material and fresh rock) and three geological units (volcanics, metasediments and carbonaceous sediments). Based on the test work results, the company plans to continue mineralogy assessment of core and leach tailings samples as well as cyanide destruction tests on leach tailings from the bottle roll tests. In addition, the company will conduct cid-base-accounting tests on core samples, leach tailings and waste rock samples with aggregate testing of waste rock samples.

"I am pleased with the results of the test work, which continue to confirm the robustness and strong economic characteristics of the Oko West deposit, on which we released our maiden Mineral Resource estimate (‘MRE') in June," said Reunion Gold president and CEO Rick Howe in the press release. "These results represent one of many studies that will comprise our preliminary economic assessment (‘PEA'), which we expect to release by the end of 2023 or early 2024. In addition to advancing work on the PEA, the company's ongoing drilling program aims at expanding the resource at depth below the MRE area. We also intend to continue our exploration program outside of the resource area to try and identify additional areas of gold mineralization at Oko West. The most promising targets include the southern four km of the same geological trend that hosts the Kairuni zone MRE, and the zone to the west of the resource area, which sits adjacent to numerous historic alluvial gold operations and coincides with several areas of anomalous soil geochemical results."

Reunion Gold Corp. (TSX.V: RGD) (OTCQX: RGDFF) is a leading gold explorer in the Guiana Shield, South America. In early 2021, the Company announced an exciting new greenfield gold discovery at its Oko West project in Guyana, where, after 22 months of resource definition drilling, the Company has announced an initial Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) containing 2.475 Moz of gold in Indicated resources at 1.84 g/t and 1.762 Moz of gold in inferred resources at 2.02 g/t contained within a pit shell outline. Preliminary metallurgy results performed by the company, consisting of 8 bottle roll tests obtained strong results, averaging just under 90% recoveries on average. The Company is continuing with additional development activities at Oko West, including environmental base line studies and additional metallurgical work relating to the delivery of a PEA by year end 2023. In addition, Reunion Gold is currently exploring several priority targets in the Oko West project area on which the company feels there is good potential to add additional resource ounces. This includes the opportunity to grow the initial mineral resource estimate (MRE) released on June 13, 2023, and to discover additional gold ounces at Oko West outside of the resource area.

The Guiana Shield remains one of the most prospective exploration locations globally for the discovery of world class orogenic gold deposits. The shield, including both Guyana and Surinam, contain large relatively underexplored greenstone belts, from which Reunion Gold expects many more significant gold discoveries could emerge in the coming years.

Oko West Project

Reunion Gold’s Oko West Project is a brand-new gold discovery in northwest Guyana located within the historical Oko gold district. Alluvial gold has been mined from the Oko district since the turn of the century, but very little primary gold has been mined or even explored for to the best of the company’s knowledge. The project comprises a prospecting license with an area of approximately 44 square kilometers and is 100% held by Reunion’s Guyanese subsidiary.

In 2020, Reunion Gold’s geochemical survey, trenching and initial 1000 m drill program discovered and confirmed the presence of gold mineralization in this Orogenic gold system. The gold occurs in the eastern edge of the project area, along a 6km long sheared contact between a granitoid intrusion and a meta volcanic-meta sedimentary rock package. The MRE is located within the Kairuni zone, which represents the northern most 1.9 km of the 6 km long contact.

“We are advancing our Oko West project along two tracks. The first is to advance the exploration programs outside of the Kairuni zone, aimed at outlining and discovering additional gold mineralization within our Prospecting License. On this front, I am very excited by the results from the initial Scout RC Geochem drill program that is defining new targets west of our Kairuni zone,” Rick Howes, President and CEO of Reunion Gold, stated in a recent news release. In addition to the targets west of the Kairuni zone, the company has also commenced exploration work on the southern ~ 4 km of the same sheared contact that hosts the Kairuni zone MRE. In addition, the company feels that the MRE marks the size of the Kairuni resource at a point in time and that there is good potential to continue to grow the resource. The MRE remains open at depth below the resource pit outline in the block 4 area and also to depth and along strike in the block 5 and 6 areas. In addition to the exploration programs, the second strategic track is to rapidly advance the Kairuni zone along the path to development. To that end the company is moving forward with the engineering and other studies, including more detailed metallurgical studies, that will support the release a PEA on the Kairuni zone by year end 2023 The company feels that the rapid advancement of development of Kairuni zone MRE, while in parallel continuing to explore for additional ounces on the project, is the best path to try and maximize shareholder value in the shortest period of time.

Guyana

Guyana boasts a long history of mining gold, bauxite, diamonds and manganese. Still, the greenstone belts of the Guiana Shield remain relatively unexplored when compared to the analogous regions of the West African Shield (Birimian), which, according to geological evidence, was once connected to the Guiana Shield, forming a contiguous craton prior to the Mesozoic period.

Despite a historical lack of accessibility and low exploration intensity, several significant large-scale projects have emerged in the Guiana Shield, including Aurora, Oko West, Oko Main, Toroparu and Omai. Guyana is English speaking with a British based parliamentary and legal system and boasts the world’s fastest growing economy on the back of significant offshore oil discoveries by Exxon and its partners. It is expected that a significant amount of the revenues from oil production will be invested in improving the infrastructure, education and health care and agriculture within the country.

Market Opportunity

The World Gold Council, an industry association representing gold producers with hundreds of mining operations in nearly 50 countries around the world, called 2022 the “strongest year for gold demand in over a decade.” Annual gold demand jumped 18% YoY due to “colossal central bank purchases, aided by vigorous retail investor buying and slower ETF outflows.”

Despite this spike in demand, total annual gold supply increased by just 2% in 2022, halting two years of successive declines but failing to challenge 2018 highs. This supply-demand imbalance could provide a favorable market environment as Reunion Gold continues to advance drilling programs at its 100%-owned Oko West Project.

Management Team

Eloro Resources Ltd. (TSX.V: ELO) (OTCQX: ELRRF)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Eloro Resources Ltd. (TSX.V: ELO) (OTCQX: ELRRF).

Eloro Resources (TSX: ELO) (OTCQX: ELRRF) (FSE: P2QM) today announced assay results from reconnaissance drilling on the Mina Casiterita Property, additional definition drilling on the eastern margin and southern extension of the Santa Barbara deposit and reconnaissance drilling in the Porco-Mina 2 area. In total, 16 holes totaling 12,495.4m have been completed as detailed in the press release.

"We are encouraged by the initial drilling results from Mina Casiterita, especially considering the reconnaissance nature of the drill program. The grade and width intersected in hole DCT-03, considering the recently reported positive ‘ore-sorting' results (see Eloro press release dated July 26, 2023), is attractive particularly with the higher-grade sections. Continued diamond drilling is being delayed pending the finalization of the granting of the mining rights process for the Mina Casiterita and Mina Hoyada properties (‘additional properties'), through the signing of administrative mining contracts between the regional Jurisdictional Administrative Mining Authority in Bolivia and the additional properties title holder, from whom the properties are being acquired," said Tom Larsen, CEO of Eloro. "Upon completion of this internal process within the Bolivian mining regulator AJAM, Eloro's Bolivian subsidiary, Minera Tupiza S.R.L. will consolidate its one hundred percent (100%) participation in the additional properties, pursuant to its option agreement with the vendor. In connection with this transaction, 200,000 common shares of Eloro will be issued to acquire the capital quotas of the additional properties title holder (see Eloro press release dated Nov. 22, 2022)."

Eloro Resources Ltd. (TSX.V: ELO) (OTCQX: ELRRF) is a publicly traded exploration and mine development company with a portfolio of gold and base-metal properties in Bolivia, Peru and Quebec.

The company has an option to acquire a 99% interest in the highly prospective Iska Iska Property, classified as a silver-tin polymetallic epithermal-porphyry complex, a significant mineral deposit type in the Potosi Department of southern Bolivia. Iska Iska is a road-accessible, royalty-free property.

Eloro also owns an 82% interest in the La Victoria Gold/Silver Project, located in the North-Central Mineral Belt of Peru, some 50 kilometers south of Barrick’s Lagunas Norte Gold Mine and Pan American Silver’s La Arena Gold Mine. La Victoria consists of eight mining concessions and eight mining claims encompassing approximately 89 square kilometers. La Victoria has good infrastructure, with access to road, water and electricity, and is located at an altitude that ranges from 3,150 meters to 4,400 meters above sea level.

The company has a strong management and technical team working diligently to uncover the value of both Iska Iska and La Victoria. Eloro is based in Toronto, Canada.

Projects

Iska Iska – Potosi, Bolivia

Iska Iska is associated with a Miocene possibly collapsed/resurgent caldera, emplaced on Ordovician age rocks with major breccia pipes, dacitic domes and hydrothermal breccias. The property is wholly controlled by the title holder, Empresa Minera Villegas S.R.L. It is located 48 kilometers north of Tupiza city, in the Sud Chichas Province of the Department of Potosi. This is an important mineral deposit type in the prolific South Mineral Belt of Bolivia. Eloro commissioned a NI 43-101 Technical Report on Iska Iska, which was completed by Micon International Limited and is available on Eloro’s website and under its filings on SEDAR.

A fully financed drill program is currently underway on the property, situated near world-class deposits including Silver Sand, San Bartolomé, Pulacayo, San Cristobal, San Vicente, Chorolque, Tasna, Choroma and Siete Suyos. Iska Iska is in the southwest part of the Eastern Cordillera, which hosts a number of major polymetallic mines and mineral deposits. Drilling and continuous channel sampling results have demonstrated some very high metal values, especially silver and tin, within an immense system, where mineralization has been encountered in every drill hole to date. The company believes there is excellent potential for world-class bulk mineable deposits.

La Victoria – Ancash, Peru

The La Victoria project, targeting gold and silver production, is situated near world-class, low-cost gold producers Pan American Silver and Barrick Gold Corporation. Located in Ancash Department, La Victoria sits on the western slopes of the Peruvian Andes. The property is located 12 hours from Lima, with a travel distance of 600 kilometers. The nearest road accessible population centers from La Victoria are Huandoval, Pallasca and Cabana. The project includes four principal mineralized zones in Peru’s prolific North-Central Mineral Belt – San Markito, Victoria, Victoria South and Ccori Orcco – with excellent potential for gold discovery. Operations at La Victoria are planned to proceed with a 2,000-meter diamond drilling program to test targets to outline potential resources at San Markito. Trenching and sampling confirmed high silver values and veins at San Markito in 2020.

Market Outlook

According to industry association The Silver Institute, the outlook for silver demand is exceptionally promising, with global demand forecast to rise to a record high of 1.112 billion ounces in 2022. The increase will be driven by record silver industrial fabrication, which is forecast to improve by 5%, as silver’s use expands primarily in solar energy and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. The institute states that government commitments to carbon neutrality have resulted in a rapid expansion of green energy projects, driving record photovoltaic panel installations which are expected to lift silver demand in this segment to an all-time high in 2022.

Rising demand in the electronics industry is also boosting the demand for tin, which is primarily used in solder. The electronics and electrical industries use solders containing 40-70% tin, which provide strong and reliable joints under a variety of environmental conditions. At present, the majority of the assemblers are using patented tin-and-copper-based solders. Mordor Intelligence estimated tin demand at 387 kilotons in 2021 and forecasts demand growth of 2.5% annually through 2027. Over the medium term, surging demand from the EV market and increasing applications in the electrical and electronics industry is expected to drive the market.

Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX).

As more states have legalized recreational cannabis use for adults aged 21 year and older, a debate on public consumption and marijuana's distinct smell has grown increasingly fierce. Most, if not all states with recreational and medical cannabis programs have outlawed public consumption and require that eligible adults consume and cultivate cannabis in private residences away from the public eye. However, marijuana smoke is a strong, pungent scent that can travel, especially when cannabis users are living in close quarters with other people, such as in apartments. This means that individuals abiding by state law and consuming cannabis in private often expose nonusers to smoke, albeit unintentionally, raising questions about where cannabis users could legally consume marijuana without affecting others. Duluth, Minnesota, resident Carl Sack has taken a unique approach to cannabis smoke in public. Although Sack himself does not consume cannabis and actively states that he hates running into clouds of cannabis smoke in his neighborhood, he opposes local administrative efforts to outlaw public cannabis consumption. He is part of a group of residents who are calling on the Duluth City Council to reject a proposed measure that would ban consuming cannabis in the city's parks. The specific ways that different jurisdictions adopt to address the issue of public smoking could impact various businesses that specialize in supplying indoor cultivation equipment, such as Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX). For example, if a proactive approach is taken and consumption lounges are permitted, more tourists or visitors can buy marijuana, which would in turn create additional demand for cultivators.

Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX) is in the business of selling and distributing self-contained, automated, indoor “micro-farms” called Grow Pods, along with related equipment and supplies. Additionally, the company designs and sells patented proprietary medical-grade plastic containers, known as the Medtainer®, that store and grind pharmaceuticals, herbs, teas and other solids or liquids.

ACTX is the leading distributor of Grow Pods. With a controlled environment, food and herbs can be grown without pesticides, harmful chemicals or risk of pathogen contamination, and with low energy consumption. Restaurants, grocery stores, non-profits, MSOs and entrepreneurs can use Grow Pods to ensure a fresh supply of ultra-clean produce year-round.

The company entered the Grow Pod business in October 2020 with its acquisition of all shares of Advanced Container Technologies Inc., a California corporation. As of February 28, 2022, ACTX is exploring the acquisition of the assets and the assumption of some or all of the liabilities of GP Solutions Inc., the developer and manufacturer of Grow Pods, for which ACTX is currently the sole U.S. distributor.

Because Grow Pods can be located almost anywhere, produce can be grown closer to the point of consumption and harvested at its peak, providing nutritious fruits and vegetables where needed. Indoor micro-farms, utilizing a practice known as vertical farming, have attracted the attention of governments and universities, which are now promoting vertical farming as a way to combat food insecurity and inequities.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has stated that vertical farming “is no longer a futuristic concept.” The department is enthusiastic about vertical farming, particularly those utilizing repurposed shipping containers, such as Grow Pods. Arizona State University reports that vertical farming reduces water use by 90 percent compared to conventional farming but produces 10 times the crop yield.

Products

Grow Pods

One of the company’s main business units is focused on selling advanced, self-contained hydroponic containers called Grow Pods. These unique and innovative automated systems are essentially micro-farms that can be placed virtually anywhere and, with their controlled and specially filtered environment, allow cultivation of a wide variety of crops, 365 days a year. The Grow Pod controlled environment offers major advantages for the production of high-value crops. The ability to grow year-round and the ability to cultivate in a smaller footprint using less water and power are some of the primary advantages of the system. Grow Pods offer constant temperature, humidity and airflow control, as well as automated watering and lighting schedules for optimal growth and minimal labor requirements, regardless of crop.

Containers

ACTX meets the needs of the pharmaceutical and medical markets, including the cannabis and hemp industries, with patented packaging systems. The company designs, customizes, brands and sells proprietary medical grade plastic containers that can store pharmaceuticals, herbs, teas and other solids or liquids, with a special built-in feature that can grind solids and shred herbs. The company’s flagship container product is the patented Medtainer®, a child resistant, medical-grade herb container and grinder that is water-tight, air-tight and smell proof. Packaging in the cannabis industry is critical, with numerous stringent regulations about how cannabis products must be packaged and labeled. ACTX also offers custom-branded, compliant vacuum seal bags and other retail container solutions.

Equipment and Supplies

ACTX markets and sells two principal products: Grow Pods, which are specially modified insulated shipping containers manufactured by GP Solutions Inc., in which plants, herbs and spices may be grown hydroponically in a controlled environment, and Medtainers®, which may be used to store pharmaceuticals, herbs, teas and other solids or liquids and can grind solids and shred herbs. The company also markets and sells various products related to Grow Pods and the Medtainer®, as well as providing private labeling and branding services for purchasers of Medtainers® and certain related products.

GP Solutions manufactures and sells other products, such as humidity controllers and LED lighting systems for vertical farming. The company’s specially designed lighting panels are programmed to emit the exact wavelength of light that each crop requires. The system has a daybreak-to-nightfall feature that gives plants the proper chromatic signals to grow rapidly and fruitfully. High efficiency LED light strips supply the crops with a red and blue light spectrum required for photosynthesis in the spectrum that plants need most.

Market Overview

The global vertical farming market is expected to reach $33.02 billion by 2030, according to a new report by Grand View Research. The market is forecast to expand at a CAGR of 25.5 percent from 2022 to 2030, according to Grand View. Escalating production of biopharmaceutical products, including cannabis, is anticipated to drive the market. The building-based segment of the market is expected to register a significant CAGR of 27.8 percent over the projected period. In addition, the climate control segment is expected to see high growth.

The global cannabis packaging market is expected to reach $14.34 billion by 2028, according to analysis by Reports and Data. The analysis forecasts 1,700 percent growth in cannabis users by the end of 2026, with packaging likely observing a whopping 26.42 percent growth in the forecast period. There are significant barriers to entry in the cannabis packaging market, giving an advantage to companies already established in the sector. These barriers include developing a thorough knowledge of the myriad regulations that govern cannabis packaging (which differ in each state), and child-resistance requirements.

BiondVax Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ: BVXV)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight BiondVax Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ: BVXV).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that close to one in three adults and more than one in every four children in America have a food allergy, seasonal allergy or eczema. Close to 6% of children and adults in the country have a food allergy and 25.7% of U.S. adults have a seasonal allergy, 7.3% have eczema, and 6.2% report having a food allergy. Common allergy treatment approaches include medications to minimize immune system reaction and alleviate symptoms, epinephrine in emergencies and immunotherapy for severe cases. Immunotherapy is the preferred treatment option for people with allergies that do not respond to conventional treatments. While allergy treatments such as antihistamines work by temporarily alleviating allergy symptoms, immunotherapy changes the immune system's reaction to a specific substance to eliminate the extreme reaction. This means that immunotherapy essentially trains the immune system to adapt to the allergen, eliminating the allergic reaction at the root and keeping patients from experiencing any allergy symptoms. While immunotherapy for allergies is still a long way from being universally accessible and affordable, the efforts of entities such as BiondVax Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ: BVXV) could gradually bring to market more affordable immunotherapies for the mass market.

BiondVax Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ: BVXV) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing, manufacturing and commercializing innovative products for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases and other illnesses.

In collaboration with the prestigious Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences (MPG) and the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG), both in Germany, BiondVax is developing a pipeline of innovative nanosized antibody (NanoAb) therapies addressing diseases underserved by current treatments and with large and growing markets, such as COVID-19, asthma and psoriasis.

NanoAbs, also known as VHH-antibodies or Nanobodies, are alpaca-derived nanosized antibodies that exhibit multiple significant competitive advantages over existing antibody therapies, including stability at high temperatures, superior binding affinity, more effective and convenient routes of administration and efficient production. BiondVax is uniquely positioned to advance nanosized antibody innovation from R&D through commercialization.

The company’s highly experienced and successful pharmaceutical industry leadership team includes former senior executives from Novartis, GSK and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Since its founding, BiondVax has executed eight clinical trials, including a seven-country, 12,400-participant Phase 3 trial of a prior influenza vaccine candidate, and it built, owns and operates a 20,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art GMP biologics manufacturing facility housing its laboratories, production facilities and offices.

Lead Candidate: Inhaled COVID-19 NanoAb

In December 2021, BiondVax signed definitive agreements with the Max Planck Society – parent organization of the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences– and the UMG to enter a strategic collaboration for the development and commercialization of innovative COVID-19 NanoAbs.

The company is planning a rapid development path that leverages its expertise and capabilities in biological drug development and manufacturing. BiondVax anticipates preclinical proof-of-concept results for an inhaled COVID-19 NanoAb by the end of 2022, with initial Phase 1/2a human clinical trial results expected in 2023.

The intended inhaled mechanism of delivery of BiondVax’s COVID-19 NanoAb formulation may serve as a significant differentiator when compared to approved monoclonal antibodies, which are injected. Inhaled delivery has shown to be cheaper, more convenient and likely safer for patients and providers.

NanoAb Pipeline: Psoriasis, Asthma and More

The COVID-19 NanoAb development agreement is part of a broader five-year research collaboration agreement signed in March 2022 covering discovery, development and commercialization of NanoAbs for several other disease indications with large market medical needs, including asthma, psoriasis, macular degeneration and psoriatic arthritis.

BiondVax has an exclusive worldwide license for development and commercialization of COVID-19 NanoAbs and exclusive options for similar worldwide licenses for NanoAbs for the above mentioned additional large market disorders currently underserved by approved therapeutic antibodies.

Academic research teams from MPG and UMG have verified strong affinity by the new NanoAbs to their biological target molecules and high thermostability. They have also demonstrated strong neutralization by several NanoAb candidates of their respective target molecules. Neutralization studies of the other NanoAbs are expected to begin later in 2022.

Based on the promising results, BiondVax will focus development efforts beginning with the following NanoAbs:

  • NanoAbs targeting IL-17 as drug candidates for the potential treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis
  • NanoAbs targeting IL-13 and NanoAbs targeting TSLP as drug candidates for the potential treatment of asthma

These are conditions for which the antibody target is validated by existing treatments and the mechanism of action is well understood. Both represent large medical needs and growing markets. BiondVax anticipates preclinical proof-of-concept for at least one of these NanoAbs in 2023. This is in addition to the aforementioned human clinical Phase 1/2a for the inhaled COVID-19 NanoAb therapy, which is also anticipated in 2023.

Market Opportunity

COVID-19 treatment, target of the company’s lead NanoAb therapy candidate, had an estimated market size of $22 billion in 2021.

Future BiondVax drug candidates will target conditions with large markets growing at attractive CAGRs.

The global asthma treatment market was valued at $18.08 billion in 2019 and is projected to reach $26.01 billion by 2027, exhibiting a CAGR of 4.5% during the forecast period, according to Fortune Business Insights. The research firm predicts that the global psoriasis treatment market will grow from $26.37 billion in 2022 to $47.24 billion by 2029, exhibiting a CAGR of 8.7% over the forecast period.

Target Verticals

While the potential applications for quantum computing are effectively limitless, D-Wave has identified a number of industry verticals as key areas of focus for its quantum architecture, providing case studies for each. These include:

  • Manufacturing – D-Wave worked with Volkswagen to identify a commercial optimization application, the binary paint shop problem, which was run on D-Wave’s hybrid solver service. The solver outperformed four purely classical methods on problem sizes at commercial scale (N=3,000). In a separate project, similar inputs were tested using a leading ion trap system, which failed to find any commercial solution.
  • Life Sciences – Menten AI makes use of D-Wave quantum computing to assist in the design of novel therapeutic peptides—short strings of amino acids that can act as potent drugs. With the rise of COVID-19, D-Wave’s Advantage system made it possible to identify molecules that might be especially well-suited for binding and inhibiting the related spike protein, producing several promising peptide designs.
  • Finance – Multiverse Computing, a leader in developing quantum solutions for the financial sector, leveraged D-Wave’s hybrid solver service in a collaboration with BBVA, one of the world’s largest financial institutions. Multiverse demonstrated management strategies that far exceeded the granularity of traditional returns in a fraction of the time, helping BBVA identify a low-risk portfolio for investment.

Market Opportunity

The quantum computing total addressable market is projected to grow between $450 billion and $850 billion over the next 15 to 30 years, with between $5 billion and $10 billion of anticipated TAM growth coming in the next three to five years, according to Boston Consulting Group. Driving factors behind this growth include rising investments in quantum computing tech by governments and an increasing number of commercial use-cases.

Forward-thinking organizations see quantum as an opportunity to move ahead of the competition. From finding efficiencies and reducing waste to decreasing time to solution and solving problems abandoned due to complexity, the business value is real. According to data from 451 Research, 40% of large enterprises are already experimenting with quantum computing.

D-Wave is strategically positioned – in an industry with significant barriers to entry – as evident by a decades-long track record serving a roster of blue-chip customers. Knightscope, Inc. (NASDAQ: KSCP)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Knightscope, Inc. (NASDAQ: KSCP).

Knightscope (NASDAQ: KSCP), a leading developer of autonomous security robots ("ASRs") and blue light emergency communication systems, has inked two new contracts with a northern California casino. Noting that the company "wins jackpot" with its new casino client, Knightscope announced that it has contracted with the casino for one K1 Tower as well as a pre-order for two K1 Hemisphere ASRs.

The K1 Hemisphere contract is the latest in a growing number of pre-orders that Knightscope has received for its newest ASRs. Most recently, the company deployed two K1 Hemispheres in Hawaii as the new devices enter the final stage of testing before beginning fulfillment of existing pre-order contracts.

The K1 Tower is a stationary indoor/outdoor ASR that is ideal for use at smaller properties where mobility is not necessarily required; it is also great for patrolling points of ingress and egress. The device operates 24/7 and includes many of the same features that KSCP's mobile ASRs have become known for, including the added option of facial recognition.

The K1 Hemisphere is a compact ASR, making it a perfect complement to its bigger ASR siblings. The device is an ideal option for casinos, commercial property owners, residential communities, bank ATM vestibules, truck stops, lobbies, loading docks, ports, rail, schools and other locations where elevating security and safety is the goal. The Hemisphere can be mounted to a variety of objects, including poles, fences, buildings, walls, and more.

Company Mission – Reimagining Public Safety

Knightscope’s long-term vision has an eye on the greater good. The company’s mission is to make the United States of America the safest nation in the world while supporting the 2+ million law enforcement and security professionals across the country.

Crime has an estimated negative economic impact in excess of $2 trillion annually. As crime is reduced, positive impacts will likely be realized across several aspects of society, including housing, financial markets, insurance, municipal budgets, local business and safety in general.

Knightscope CEO William Santana Li was interviewed by Kevin O’Leary, more commonly known as Shark Tank’s Mr. Wonderful. When asked to explain how the benefits provided by the ASRs outrank a human doing the same job, Li said, “First, just the simple presence of a physical deterrent causes criminal behavior to change. Second, the machines are self-driving cars that patrol all around and recharge themselves. They also generate 90 terabytes of data per year. No human would ever be able to process that. The robots are intended to be eyes and ears for the humans, not a one-to-one replacement.”

The Knightscope solution to reduce crime combines the physical presence of ASRs, sometimes referred to as proprietary Autonomous Data Machines, with real-time onsite data collection and analysis. The ASRs are fitted with eye-level 360° cameras, thermal scanning, public address announcements and various other features that work in tandem with humans to provide law enforcement officers and security guards unprecedented situational awareness.

Those 90 terabytes of data are then formatted in a useable way, so law enforcement can leverage that information and execute their responsibilities more effectively.

Public Safety Innovation

The company’s recurring revenue business model is set up to mimic the recurring societal problem of crime, and it takes into consideration the fact that innovation in the security and public safety industry has been stagnant for decades. Because the traditional practices of the sector have remained unchanged for years, automation has potential to drive substantial cost savings – and significant improvement in capabilities.

Human security guards are one of both the largest expenses and the largest liabilities for companies. Knightscope’s robots are offered at an effective price of $3 to $9 per hour, compared with approximately $85 for an armed off-duty law enforcement officer and $15 to $35 for an unarmed security guard.

This innovation has the potential to drive considerable cost savings. Based on these estimates, manufacturing costs can be recovered as soon as the first year of operation.

Product Offerings

The company has nine patents and a framework of unique intellectual property. Knightscope currently offers a K1 stationary machine, a K3 indoor machine and a K5 outdoor machine. A K7 multi-terrain four-wheel version is in development.

The ASRs autonomously patrol client sites without the need for remote control, providing a visible, force multiplying, physical security presence to help protect assets, monitor changes in the area and deter crime. The data is accessible through the Knightscope Security Operations Center (KSOC), an intuitive, browser-based interface that enables security professionals to review events generated by the ASRs providing effectively ‘mobile smart eyes and ears’. Learn more at www.knightscope.com/ksoc

The ASRs and the related technologies were developed ground up by the company and are Made in the USA.

The Robot Roadshow

Knightscope has created the ultimate hybrid physical and virtual event, bringing its Autonomous Security Robot technologies to cities across the country for interactive and in-person demonstrations.

Each roadshow landing is hosted virtually by a Knightscope expert, and visitors can interact directly with each of the company’s ASRs and see the Knightscope Security Operations Center (KSOC) user interface in action. Learn more at www.knightscope.com/roadshow

Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ: LEXX)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ: LEXX).

Lexaria's NIC-H22-1 study proved that its patented DehydraTECH(TM)-nicotine tobacco-free pouch was statistically significantly faster-acting than alternatives

The study, which involved 36 participants, embraced a randomized, double-blind, cross-over study design

It also affirmed Lexaria's product superiority while also showing DehydraTECH's potential

Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ: LEXX), a global innovator in drug delivery platforms, just released results from its 2023 human oral nicotine study NIC-H22-1. Of note was its patented DehydraTECH(TM)–nicotine tobacco-free pouch product superiority, particularly when pitted against world-leading brands ZYN(R) and on!(R). The study proved that Lexaria's product was statistically significantly faster than the two alternatives in the median time required to reach comparable maximum nicotine concentrations ("Tmax") levels (https://cnw.fm/17JMQ).

Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ: LEXX) is a global innovator in drug delivery platforms. The company’s patented technology, DehydraTECH™, improves the way active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) enter the bloodstream by promoting healthier oral ingestion methods and increasing the effectiveness of fat-soluble active molecules. DehydraTECH promotes fast-acting, less expensive and more effective oral drug delivery and has been thoroughly evaluated through in vivo, in vitro and human clinical testing.

DehydraTECH is covered by 21 issued and more than 50 pending patents in over 40 countries around the world. Lexaria’s first patent was issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in October 2016 (US 9,474,725 B1), providing 20 years of patent protection expiring June 2034. Multiple patents have been awarded since then and are expected in the future.

Lexaria has also collaborated with the National Research Council (NRC), the Canadian government’s premier research and technology organization. The company has been granted patent protection for specific delivery of nicotine, vitamins, NSAIDs, antiviral drugs, cannabinoids and more.

Lexaria began developing DehydraTECH in 2014 and has since continued to strengthen and broaden the technology. The company has no plans to create or sell Lexaria-branded products containing controlled substances. Instead, Lexaria licenses its technology to other companies around the world to offer consumers the best possible performance across an array of ingestible product formats.

The company’s technology is best thought of as an additional layer that providers of consumer supplements, prescription and non-prescription drugs, nicotine and CBD products can utilize to improve the effectiveness of their own existing or planned new offerings. Lexaria has licensed DehydraTECH to multiple companies, including a world-leading tobacco producer for the research and development of smokeless, oral-based nicotine products, and for use in industries that produce cannabinoid beverages, edibles and oral products.

DehydraTECH is suitable for use with a wide range of product formats including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, consumer packaged goods and over-the-counter capsules, pills, tablets and oral suspensions.

DehydraTECH Technology

Lexaria’s DehydraTECH is designed specifically for formulating and delivering lipophilic (fat-soluble) drugs and active ingredients. DehydraTECH increases their effectiveness and improves the way active pharmaceutical ingredients enter the bloodstream. The major benefits to a subject ingesting a DehydraTECH-enabled drug or consumer product can be summarized by the following:

  • Speeds up delivery – the effects of the product are felt by the subject in just minutes.
  • Increases bioavailability – the technology is much more effective at delivering a drug or product into the bloodstream.
  • Increases brain absorption – animal testing suggests significant improvement in the quantity of drug delivered across the blood-brain barrier.
  • Improves drug potency – more of the ingested product is made available to the body, so lower doses are required to achieve the desired effect.
  • Reduces drug administration cost – lower doses mean lower overall drug costs.
  • Masks unwanted taste – the technology eliminates or reduces the need for sweeteners.

Lexaria has demonstrated in animal studies a propensity for DehydraTECH technology to elevate the quantity of drug delivered across the blood-brain barrier by as much as 1,900 percent, initiating additional new patent applications and opening possibilities for improved drug delivery.

Since 2016, DehydraTECH has repeatedly demonstrated, with cannabinoids and nicotine, the ability to increase bio-absorption by up to five to 10 times, reduce time of onset from one to two hours to just minutes, and mask unwanted tastes. The technology is to be further evaluated for additional orally administered bioactive molecules, including antivirals, cannabinoids, vitamins, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and nicotine.

Market Outlook

Lexaria’s ongoing research and development efforts are mainly focused on development of product candidates across several key segments:

  • Oral Cannabinoids – a market estimated to be worth $18.4 billion in 2021 and expected to reach $46.2 billion by 2025.
