(CAN), and today we highlight the Company, here at the QualityStocks Daily Newsletter.

Financial regulators in South Korea have directed crypto exchanges to pause the launch of any new crypto asset lending services. Officials say the move is necessary to reduce growing risks in the market and to give regulators time to create a clear set of rules.

According to the country’s Financial Services Commission (FSC), letters were recently sent to major crypto trading platforms asking them to stop offering new lending services until formal guidelines are issued. Ongoing agreements, such as repayment schedules or contract extensions, will not be affected.

Last month, the FSC announced the creation of a joint task force with the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) aimed at designing a crypto lending framework. The forthcoming regulations will address leverage restrictions, investor qualifications, and transparency requirements on potential risks.

The decision follows multiple reports of investor losses tied to crypto exchange lending programs. In one case highlighted by the FSC, an exchange platform launched a lending feature in June that attracted more than 27,000 users in a single month. The service recorded approximately $1.1 billion (1.5 trillion won) in transactions. However, over 3,600 people (13%) were forced into liquidations after the value of their holdings dropped.

The regulator also cited two firms that provided Tether lending products, which created an unusual dip in USDT’s price alongside a sharp increase in trading volume.

The commission warned that continuing lending services without clear protections in place could lead to deeper financial losses for investors. The regulator also stated that it would conduct on-site reviews and take disciplinary steps against platforms that do not follow the order.

South Korea has been building regulatory oversight for digital assets since 2020. Virtual asset service providers (VASPs) are mandated to comply with the country’s Travel Rule and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards. However, cryptocurrency lending services have remained unregulated, with no specific licensing system in place.

The regulator’s new decision reflects rising global concerns about leverage in the digital asset sector. A recent report from Galaxy Digital highlighted that the volume of crypto-backed loans rose 27% in the second quarter, reaching $53.1 billion—the highest level since 2022.

Recent market events have only added to regulators’ concerns. Bitcoin’s recent sharp pullback from $124,000 to $118,000 triggered more than $1 billion in liquidations in just a few days. Analysts say that warning signs are appearing across the ecosystem, from widening gaps between OTC dollar borrowing and on-chain lending rates to liquidity shortages in decentralized finance and delays in ETH staking withdrawals.

Periodic pullbacks have characterized the crypto market over the past few years, so entities like Canaan Inc. (NASDAQ: CAN) are unlikely to be unduly fazed by the recent pause in the upward movement of the prices of leading cryptos like Bitcoin.

Canaan Inc. (CAN), closed Friday's trading session at $0.7523, up 13.9848%, on 39,435,068 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 175,562 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $0.5347/$3.27.

In 2023, voters in Ohio approved the legalization of recreational cannabis for adults aged 21 and above. But while residents supported the measure at the ballot box, lawmakers have spent months debating if and how the law should be changed.

For some people, cannabis is a business opportunity or a hobby, while others view it as medicine, a problem, or even a public health concern.

Recreational sales officially launched on August 6, 2024. At the time, 98 dispensaries were authorized to serve both medical patients and recreational buyers. That number has since grown to 162 locations across the state.

According to the state’s Division of Cannabis Control (DCC), more than 100,000 pounds of cannabis flower have been sold since August 2024. Medical cannabis sales, however, have declined, with many patients choosing to skip the hassle of renewing medical cards now that cannabis is widely available.

Total sales in the past year have reached $1 billion, with 70% of this coming from recreational sales. While the numbers look strong on the surface, the figure lags behind what other states are seeing.

Pennsylvania, which only allows medical sales and has roughly the same population as Ohio, has consistently averaged $1.5 billion annually from its program, outpacing Ohio’s combined sales by over 30%. Missouri, with only half of Ohio’s population, brought in approximately $1.5 billion during its first year of recreational sales.

Ohio dispensary operators say competition is hurting them, with shops selling delta-8 THC, which is still unregulated, continuing to draw customers. Michigan also presents a challenge, as cannabis across the border is consistently cheaper than what Ohio retailers can offer.

In the political arena, lawmakers have debated multiple proposals, including limiting home cultivation and penalizing passengers who use cannabis in cars. The state’s main hemp and cannabis bill has stalled, though legislators plan to revisit it later in the year.

Meanwhile, social equity program funding—designed to give small businesses and disadvantaged communities a fairer shot at entering the market—was cut from the state budget.

At the same time, cities with dispensaries have yet to receive the tax revenue they are owed.

Ultimately, the future of Ohio’s marijuana industry depends largely on how policymakers address these challenges. Whether the market can keep growing will be shaped not just by consumer demand, but also by the rules that state leaders choose to implement.

The marijuana industry around the country and beyond, including businesses like Cronos Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CRON) (TSX: CRON), will be watching how the authorities in Ohio address the issues that could impact the success of the legal marijuana industry in the state.

Cronos Group Inc. (CRON), closed Friday's trading session at $2.6, up 1.5625%, on 2,795,874 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 322,930 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $1.6/$2.77.

After a period of decline, online dating apps are starting to see fresh signs of life. Platforms that once struggled with falling engagement are now finding creative ways to draw people back, with technology and new ideas playing a big part in the revival.

Grindr, one of the biggest names in queer dating, recently reported strong results. In the second quarter of 2025, the company recorded revenue of over $104 million, a 27 percent jump compared to last year. According to its chief executive George Arison, the company is focused on expanding how users engage by launching new features inside the app. Even though Grindr still reported a net loss, the margin has narrowed compared to the year before, suggesting that the company is moving in a positive direction.

Other dating app companies are also seeing shifts. Between 2023 and 2024, user engagement across the top ten dating apps fell by 16 percent, showing how difficult the market had become. Bumble, for instance, laid off nearly a third of its staff and posted an 8 percent decline in revenue in 2025. Match Group, which owns Tinder, Hinge, and OkCupid, reported losses earlier in the year. But after bringing in new leadership under venture capitalist Spencer Rascoff, its shares bounced back by more than 10 percent in August.

Tinder’s situation has been more troubling. Once the most popular app in the industry, Tinder has lost about 400,000 paid users for two straight quarters in 2025. Rascoff, now also heading Tinder, admitted that the platform had grown “stale” from focusing too much on short-term profits instead of innovation. The company is now working to refresh its features and rebuild user trust.

Much of this industry turnaround is being led from Los Angeles, which has become a hub for dating technology. Companies like Grindr, Three Day Rule, and Lox Club are all based there, and together they represent more than five percent of the global dating app market.

To keep users interested, many platforms are turning to artificial intelligence. Grindr is developing its own system called gAI, which is designed to better understand queer culture and language. Match Group is testing AI tools that recommend more compatible matches and even help improve the quality of users’ profile responses. Early results show these tools are reducing generic interactions and creating more meaningful conversations.

Not everyone is convinced. Surveys show that Gen Z is more cautious about letting AI write their messages or shape their profiles. Still, companies continue to expand features that connect online dating to real-world experiences, such as Tinder’s Festival Mode and Grindr’s new location discovery tool.

These changes suggest that while the online dating world has faced setbacks, innovation is helping many apps win back attention and prepare for the next chapter of digital matchmaking. This glimmer of hope suggests that players in the online dating arena like Momo Inc. (NASDAQ: MOMO) could still have a chance to grow their market penetration with carefully implemented tweaks to their strategies.

Momo Inc. (MOMO), closed Friday's trading session at $8.27, up 1.722%, on 588,443 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 1,179,957 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $5.0456/$9.22.

Bit Mining Ltd. (BTCM)

CryptoCurrencyWire, CurrencyNewsWire, QualityStocks, StockEarnings, MarketClub Analysis, Schaeffer's, Wall St. Warrior, The Stock Dork, StocksEarning, smartmoneytrading, MarketBeat, INO Market Report, FreeRealTime, 360 Wall Street and 247 Market News reported earlier on Bit Mining Ltd. (BTCM), and today we highlight the Company, here at the QualityStocks Daily Newsletter.

The cryptocurrency market started the week on shaky ground, sliding lower as global economic worries sparked more than half a billion dollars in forced liquidations.

Bitcoin (BTC) slipped 1.1% to $116,394.87 after hitting a record high of $124,496 just days earlier, its fourth peak of the year. Ether also lost ground, sliding 2.5% to $4,354 after nearly touching its previous all-time high of around $4,800 last week.

The downturn followed hotter-than-expected July inflation figures, which created doubt about whether the Fed will move ahead with a rate cut next month.

The sell-off quickly escalated into widespread liquidations as investors locked in profits. Data from CoinGlass shows that in the last 24 hours, 123,836 traders were forced to unwind positions worth a combined $530.79 million. Of that, nearly $124 million was tied to long BTC trades and $184 million to Ether positions.

These liquidations occur when leveraged traders must sell at market prices to cover losses, which typically drives prices down further.

Market sentiment weakened further after Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, stated that the government’s strategic BTC reserve, created by President Donald Trump in March, will only consist of crypto seized through legal forfeitures. He added that the administration is exploring “budget-neutral” ways to expand holdings, which disappointed some investors who hoped for more aggressive accumulation.

The slump extended beyond BTC and Ether. The CoinDesk 20 index, which tracks the wider crypto landscape, dropped 1.2%. Crypto-related equities also had a mixed session, with Bitmine Immersion dropping 5.4%, while newly listed exchange Bullish slid 8.9%. On the other hand, Coinbase gained 1%, and Galaxy Digital rose 2.2%.

Looking ahead, traders are focused on the Federal Reserve’s annual economic conference in Wyoming. Any signals from policymakers about upcoming interest rate decisions could have a strong impact on crypto markets. Traders are also closely monitoring Thursday’s release of jobless claims.

Last week’s sharp rise in BTC and Ether caught some traders off guard, as August is historically a sluggish month for digital assets. Many expected broader economic pressures to overshadow enthusiasm around institutional interest in crypto until the Fed’s September meeting. Still, analysts view the latest pullback as a healthy pause rather than a sign of crisis.

Crypto-focused exchange-traded funds are helping provide stability. Despite outflows on Friday, BTC ETFs recorded $547 million in net inflows for the week, while Ether funds attracted a record $2.9 billion, their 14th straight week of positive momentum.

BTC is currently hovering near break-even for the month, while Ether remains up 15 percent. Crypto companies like Bit Mining Ltd. (NYSE: BTCM) will be watching how the coming weeks affect the price trajectory of major cryptos.

Bit Mining Ltd. (BTCM), closed Friday's trading session at $3.14, up 2.9508%, on 402,155 volume. The average volume for the last 3 months is 309,999 and the stock's 52-week low/high is $1.22/$8.0699.

The QualityStocks Company Corner

D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE: QBTS)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE: QBTS).

Researchers at MIT have developed a new AI method to design nanoparticles that can deliver RNA vaccines and other RNA-based treatments more effectively. The team trained a machine learning system on thousands of existing lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), the tiny fat-based particles commonly used to carry mRNA into cells. The model was able to suggest new designs that outperformed existing ones. It also revealed which particles worked best in different cell types and how new materials could be added to improve performance. According to one of the study authors, Giovanni Traverso, AI allowed them to test combinations far faster than traditional trial-and-error methods. "Our tools let us pinpoint the right mixtures for nanoparticles much quicker, whether to reach a different cell type or to add new materials," he explained. Traverso noted that the tool can adapt to different research questions and speed up experiments dramatically. His team is now working to apply the technology to therapies for obesity and diabetes, including GLP-1–based treatments similar to drugs like Ozempic. The findings were recently published in Nature Nanotechnology. Such studies suggest that as more advanced technologies are commercialized by AI companies like D-Wave Quantum Inc. Clene Inc. (NASDAQ: CLNN)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Clene Inc. (NASDAQ: CLNN).

Clene Inc. plans to submit a New Drug Application ("NDA") for lead candidate CNM-Au8 ® in ALS by year-end 2025.

FDA meetings scheduled in Q3 2025 will address ALS survival benefit data and MS development plans.

Neurofilament light biomarker data analysis from the NIH-sponsored EAP program is expected in early Q4 2025.

The company reported $7.3 million in cash and cash equivalents as of June 30, 2025, together with recent financing extending the company's cash runway into Q1 2026.

Clene (NASDAQ: CLNN) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Clene Nanomedicine Inc., a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on improving mitochondrial health and protecting neuronal function to treat neurodegenerative diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ("ALS") and multiple sclerosis ("MS"), released its second quarter 2025 financial results and provided an update on its clinical programs. The company emphasized progress toward an NDA submission for its lead asset CNM-Au8 in ALS, expected in the fourth quarter of 2025 ( https://ibn.fm/PiKqu ).

A new groundbreaking therapy could slow down or even reverse aging by recharging body cells with new "batteries" that provide new energy for bodily function. The new therapy utilizes mitochondria from the placenta of infants, which are then transplanted into older people or those suffering from diseases that are currently regarded as incurable. Minovia Therapeutics, a company based in Israel, is the first firm globally to test mitochondria transplantation in human beings as a way to help people remain younger for a longer time and also treat conditions that are regarded as incurable. The transplanted mitochondria provide new energy within the patient's cells and help in reviving the patient's own mitochondria to improve their function. In this way, mitochondrial dysfunction reduces and the body can work better than it did before the transplantation. The therapy could therefore be regarded as a fountain of youth, to some extent. There is still plenty of work to do to refine and demonstrate the efficacy of this therapy in the wider population, but the findings so far hold great promise. There has been a growing interest in mitochondrial function as a way to treat conditions that have previously been regarded as incurable. Other companies, such as Clene Inc. (NASDAQ: CLNN), are exploring how mitochondrial health can be revived in patients with diseases like multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's.

Clene Inc. (NASDAQ: CLNN) is a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on improving mitochondrial health and protecting neuronal function to treat neurodegenerative diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis (MS).

Its lead drug candidate is CNM-Au8®, an oral suspension developed to restore neuronal health and function by increasing energy production and utilization by driving critical cellular energy producing reactions that enable neuroprotection and remyelination to increase neuronal and glial resilience to disease-relevant stressors. CNM-Au8 is being studied in various clinical trials, including the Harvard/MGH Healey ALS Platform clinical trial for patients with ALS; RESCUE-ALS, a completed proof-of-concept clinical trial in patients with early symptomatic ALS; the REPAIR trials, completed target engagement clinical trials showing brain energy metabolite change with CNM-Au8; and a completed MS clinical trial for the treatment of visual pathway deficits in chronic optic neuropathy for remyelination in stable relapsing MS. The company also has a nanotherapeutic platform of drug discovery.

CNM-Au8

CNM-Au8, Clene’s lead asset, is a highly concentrated aqueous suspension of catalytically active, clean-surfaced, faceted gold nanocrystals. Multiple pathogenic insults contribute to neuronal death. Mitochondrial dysfunction and NAD+ decline is a common final pathway in neurodegeneration, with NAD+ as a critical determinant of cell survival and function. CNM-Au8’s catalytic mechanisms target the energetic deficits, oxidative stress and accumulation of misfolded proteins that are common to many neurodegenerative diseases.

The unique catalytic mechanism of action of CNM-Au8 is hypothesized to act as a neuroprotective and remyelinating therapy in neurodegenerative disease states in order to: (1) drive, support and maintain beneficial metabolic and energetic cellular reactions within diseased, stressed and/or damaged cells, (2) directly catalyze the reduction of harmful, reactive oxygen species (“ROS”) and (3) promote protein homeostasis via activation of the heat shock factor-1 pathway, recognized to dampen the cytotoxicity caused by misfolded and denatured proteins, which are known to occur ubiquitously in neurodegenerative diseases.

CNM-Au8 is used in combination with other agents, has no known drug-drug interactions, and is designed to improve function and survival. The clinical effects of both function and survival were seen in its clinical ALS trials, as earlier announced.

More than 500 estimated years of collective exposure across ALS, MS, and Parkinson’s disease participants in CNM-Au8 clinical trials and Expanded Access Protocol (compassionate use) programs have been recorded without any observed safety signals.

CNM-Au8 is a federally registered trademark of Clene Inc. Clene, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with R&D and manufacturing operations in Maryland, began in 2013.

Market Opportunity

ALS is the most prevalent adult-onset progressive motor neuron disease, affecting approximately 30,000 people in the U.S. and an estimated 500,000 people worldwide, with a life expectancy of typically three to five years. Clene estimates that global ALS treatment sales will be greater than $1 billion annually within the coming few years. Additional treatments affecting daily function and survival remain the market need.

Additionally, there are more than 2 million MS patients globally, and Clene estimates the market size to be worth more than $23 billion annually. While the MS community has been successful at limiting relapses, non-relapsing MS patients continue to clinically deteriorate even while receiving effective immunomodulatory disease-modifying therapies (“DMTs”). A critical unmet medical need remains for therapeutic interventions that protect neuronal function and myelin health independent of immunomodulation to address progression independent of relapse activity.

NRx’s therapeutic pipeline is designed to address conditions with limited or no treatment options, with the potential to improve patient outcomes and expand the standard of care.

HOPE Therapeutics

HOPE Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of NRx Pharmaceuticals, is establishing a national network of psychiatrist-led clinics focused on suicidal depression and PTSD. Its care model integrates preservative-free ketamine, TMS, digital therapeutics, and supervised psychiatric support to deliver rapid, measurable outcomes.

The company is targeting more than 30 clinic acquisitions by year-end 2025. Recent agreements include the acquisition of Dura Medical and a letter of intent with Neurospa TMS, strengthening HOPE’s foundation in interventional psychiatry. In April, HOPE also secured a term sheet for strategic investment from a global medical device manufacturer.

With ketamine sales already underway under a 503B license, HOPE projects $100 million in annual revenue and profitability by year-end 2025. Positioned as a standalone care delivery company, HOPE offers NRx a potential future spinout opportunity to unlock additional shareholder value.

Market Opportunity

The need for innovative treatments in mental health and pain management is substantial. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, claiming nearly 50,000 lives each year, with over 12 million adults seriously considering suicide annually, according to the CDC.

Suicidal depression, a distinct and life-threatening condition, affects approximately 3.5 million Americans. Despite this prevalence, the only approved intervention remains electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), a treatment with significant side effects and limited access. NRx aims to address this urgent gap with NRX-100, a preservative-free intravenous ketamine formulation being developed as the first FDA-approved treatment specifically for suicidal depression.

Additionally, approximately 7 million Americans suffer from bipolar depression, a condition where nearly half of patients will attempt suicide during their lifetime and one in five may die by suicide. NRX-101, NRx’s oral drug candidate, targets this critical unmet need as a potential first-in-class therapy specifically for bipolar depression.

Beyond mood disorders, chronic pain affects over 50 million individuals in the U.S., and PTSD impacts more than 12 million people—conditions for which few non-opioid, fast-acting treatments are available. By addressing these high-risk, underserved populations, NRx Pharmaceuticals is positioned to enter multiple billion-dollar markets and reshape the standard of care for severe psychiatric and neurological illnesses.

Leadership Team

Jonathan C. Javitt, Founder, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer or NRx, and Co-CEO of HOPE, brings four decades of experience in pharmaceutical and medical device development. He has led blockbuster drug and device programs at major companies, including Allergan, Merck, and Novartis, and has served as an advisor to four U.S. presidential administrations.

Michael Abrams, Chief Financial Officer, has nearly 30 years of experience in finance, having served in executive roles, including CFO positions at Arch Therapeutics and FitLife Brands. His expertise spans investment banking, corporate finance, and business strategy.

Rick Panicucci, Chief Technology Officer, has more than 25 years of leadership in pharmaceutical manufacturing and process development. He has held key positions at Novartis, WuXi AppTec, and other major companies, leading multiple approved New Drug Applications.

Matthew Duffy, Chief Business Officer, NRx, Co-CEO of HOPE, has over 35 years of experience in biotechnology business development and investment banking. He has held leadership roles at Pfizer, MedImmune, and several financial institutions, specializing in corporate strategy and partnerships.

Bollinger Innovations, Inc. (NASDAQ: BINI)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Bollinger Innovations, Inc. (NASDAQ: BINI).

American households are paying higher power bills as the consequences of President Donald Trump's controversial tariffs and renewable energy rollbacks begin to take effect. According to a recent report published by Climate Power, a Washington D.C.-based climate advocacy group, household energy bills across the country have surged by an average of 10% since President Trump assumed office. This contradicts Trump's campaign promise to reduce energy prices in the U.S. as part of his "Energy Dominance" agenda and underscores the repercussions the current GOP administration's policies have had on the American energy landscape. Climate Power senior advisor Jesse Lee explains that the GOP is currently "fueling an energy crisis" and forcing Americans to pay higher utility bills, a major betrayal of the voters who supported the GOP partly based on promises of reduced energy bills. The irony is stark: while the administration promised energy independence and lower costs, its policy reversals are delivering precisely the opposite outcome, leaving American families to shoulder the financial burden of ideologically driven energy decisions that prioritize fossil fuel interests over consumer affordability. Affordability was also being boosted by EV incentives for buyers of vehicles from firms like Bollinger Innovations, Inc. (NASDAQ: BINI). Now those incentives are being halted by the GOP administration and consumers will have to dig deeper into their pockets to acquire these climate-friendly BEVs.

PowerBank Corporation (Cboe CA: SUNN) (FSE: GY2) (NASDAQ: SUUN)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight PowerBank Corporation (Cboe CA: SUNN) (FSE: GY2) (NASDAQ: SUUN).

Recent data points to a notable surge in electric vehicle purchases across South America, marking a major reversal of the region's EV adoption trajectory after it spent most of the 2010s lagging behind the U.S., China, and Europe. Although South America is undoubtedly late to the electric vehicle transition and remains a minor player in the global EV market, it has been adopting electric cars at a blistering pace over the past couple of years. As 2024 drew to a close, several South American markets had passed the 5% electric vehicle sales threshold that signals rapid EV adoption has begun. However, economic volatility, income inequality, and continued used car imports from other regions pose ongoing challenges. Despite these barriers, projections suggest South America will achieve cost parity with conventional vehicles by the late 2020s, potentially accelerating adoption across all market segments. For North American renewable energy firms like PowerBank Corporation (NASDAQ: SUUN) (Cboe CA: SUNN) (FSE: 103) constantly looking to conquer additional markets, Latin America could present exciting possibilities to explore.

PowerBank Corporation (NASDAQ: SUUN) (CSE: SUNN) is a premier developer and owner of renewable and clean energy projects, specializing in distributed and community solar initiatives throughout Canada and the United States. The company is committed to advancing the transition to sustainable energy by offering end-to-end services that include project origination, financing structuring, engineering, procurement, construction, and long-term operations and maintenance. PowerBank focuses on delivering innovative energy solutions through solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

With a vision to provide scalable and reliable clean energy solutions, PowerBank has established itself as a leader in the renewable energy market by cultivating partnerships with utilities, commercial and industrial entities, municipalities, and residential customers. Its vertically integrated business model allows for optimized efficiency, cost management, and returns across diverse markets in North America. This end-to-end approach ensures greater control over project quality, costs, and operational outcomes, strengthening its competitive position.

Driven by a mission to create a greener future, PowerBank manages a robust portfolio of projects, including more than 100 megawatts (MW) of developed capacity and a pipeline exceeding one gigawatt (GW). The company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation makes it a recognized player in the renewable energy sector.

PowerBank has offices in Toronto, Ontario and New York.

Projects

PowerBank boasts an impressive and diverse portfolio of renewable energy initiatives that underline its leadership in the clean energy space. In the U.S., the company has over 250 MW of solar projects under development, principally in New York, focusing on community solar farms and commercial and industrial installations. Notably, PowerBank is developing several community solar projects in upstate New York, which will deliver clean energy to local residents and small businesses. Community solar projects, which are a cornerstone of PowerBank’s portfolio, provide scalable solutions for renters, homeowners, and small businesses to access affordable renewable energy, driving localized energy independence and economic savings.

In Canada, PowerBank has been a significant participant in Ontario’s Feed-in-Tariff program, where it has secured contracts for close to 200 MW of capacity. Its current management includes 70 solar power projects, totaling 28.8 MW of operational solar assets. The company’s expertise extends to the development and ownership of battery energy storage systems and EV charging stations, further diversifying its portfolio.

The company’s vertically integrated approach spans the entire project lifecycle, from initial site acquisition and grid interconnection to long-term operation and maintenance services. This ensures seamless execution and high-quality outcomes, providing value to stakeholders and supporting the transition to a clean energy future.

Market Opportunity

PowerBank operates within a growing renewable energy market driven by global demand for sustainable power solutions. In North America, favorable policies such as the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States and Canada’s investments in green technologies provide a robust foundation for renewable energy adoption. Solar PV installations and battery energy storage systems are at the forefront of this expansion, addressing energy reliability and grid stability while reducing carbon emissions.

The North American solar PV market was valued at $25.02 billion in 2019 and is projected to reach $120.74 billion by 2027, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.7% from 2020 to 2027. Likewise, the global BESS market is expected to expand from $7.8 billion in 2024 to $25.6 billion by 2029, at a CAGR of 26.9%, as reported by MarketsandMarkets. These trends are driven by the increasing integration of renewable energy sources, the need for grid resilience, and declining technology costs.

PowerBank’s operations have it well-positioned to capitalize on these opportunities. With a development pipeline exceeding one gigawatt (GW), the company is focused on meeting growing demand in community and commercial solar sectors. Decentralized energy solutions, such as virtual net metering and behind-the-meter systems, further enhance PowerBank’s market potential by addressing the critical need for flexible, cost-effective, and sustainable energy infrastructure. By leveraging its vertically integrated model and diversified portfolio, PowerBank stands as a key player in driving the renewable energy transition.

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ)

The QualityStocks Daily Newsletter would like to spotlight Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ).

AI data centers are projected to consume more than 4 million tonnes of copper by 2035, intensifying a looming global shortfall

Trilogy Metals owns a 50% stake in Alaska's Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects ("UKMP"), among North America's richest undeveloped copper districts

The company is advancing the Arctic and Bornite deposits, which together could underpin decades of future production

AI and the Next Phase of Copper Demand

Copper's importance has been well established in renewable energy, EVs, and grid modernization. Now artificial intelligence is emerging as a powerful new driver. Data centers powering AI workloads require immense amounts of copper for power distribution, thermal regulation, and efficient conductivity. Bloomberg analysts estimate the sector could need more than 400,000 tonnes of copper annually through the next decade, with cumulative usage topping 4 million tonnes by 2035. This growing consumption comes at a time when copper supply growth is lagging. Many existing mines face declining grades, while new projects can take a decade or longer to reach production. Against this backdrop, high-grade resources in stable jurisdictions are drawing increased attention.

Trilogy Metals and the Ambler Mining District

Trilogy Metals (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) sits at the center of this dynamic. Through Ambler Metals LLC, its 50/50 joint venture with South32, Trilogy controls the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in Alaska's Ambler Mining District. The district hosts volcanogenic massive sulphide ("VMS") and carbonate replacement deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, silver, and cobalt.

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) is a North American mineral exploration and development company focused on advancing high-grade copper and critical mineral assets in Alaska. The company operates through Ambler Metals LLC, a 50/50 joint venture with South32 Ltd., and is progressing one of the world’s most prospective undeveloped polymetallic districts.

Trilogy is uniquely positioned with exposure to copper, zinc, lead, cobalt, silver, and gold—commodities vital to global electrification and energy transition. Its vision is to responsibly develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier domestic source of critical minerals while delivering long-term value to shareholders and local communities.

The company is guided by values of trust, respect, integrity, and partnership, and works closely with Alaska Native stakeholders to advance its strategy in a sustainable and inclusive manner.

Projects

Arctic Project

The Arctic project is Trilogy’s flagship asset and one of the highest-grade known copper deposits in the world, with an average grade of approximately 5% copper equivalent. Located roughly 470 kilometers northwest of Fairbanks, Alaska, Arctic is a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit hosting copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver. The project is at the feasibility stage and is currently undergoing permitting activities.

According to the 2023 Feasibility Study, Arctic will support a 10,000 tonne-per-day open-pit mining operation over a 13-year mine life. Based on long-term metal prices of $3.65/lb copper, $1.15/lb zinc, $1.00/lb lead, $1,650/oz gold, and $21.00/oz silver, the project demonstrates a pre-tax NPV8% of $1.5 billion and an IRR of 25.8%. After-tax, the NPV8% is $1.1 billion with a 22.8% IRR. At April 2025 spot metal prices, the after-tax NPV8% increases to $1.9 billion with a 31.1% IRR.

The project’s metallurgy supports high recoveries: 92.1% for copper, 88.5% for zinc, and 61.3% for lead. Life-of-mine payable production is projected to total 1.9 billion pounds of copper, 2.2 billion pounds of zinc, 335 million pounds of lead, 423,000 ounces of gold, and 36 million ounces of silver. Cash costs are expected to average $0.72 per pound of payable copper, with all-in costs estimated at $1.61 per pound.

Bornite Project

Located approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Arctic, the Bornite project is a large-scale carbonate replacement copper deposit with significant upside. According to the 2025 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA), Bornite is expected to support a 6,000 tonne-per-day underground operation over a 17-year mine life, using re-purposed infrastructure from the Arctic Project.

Bornite contains an estimated 6.5 billion pounds of inferred copper. The PEA outlines pre-tax NPV8% of $552.1 million and IRR of 23.6%, with an after-tax NPV8% of $393.9 million and IRR of 20.0%, based on a copper price of $4.20/lb. Total payable copper production over the life of mine is projected at 1.9 billion pounds.

Bornite’s mineralization occurs in stacked, stratabound zones rich in chalcopyrite, bornite, and chalcocite. A subset of the South Reef zone offers high-grade underground mining potential, further enhancing Bornite’s future optionality.

Exploration Pipeline

The Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects span 471,796 acres and include more than 30 additional mineralized prospects beyond Arctic and Bornite. These lie along two geologically distinct and highly mineralized belts: the Ambler Schist Belt and the Bornite Carbonate Sequence.

The Ambler Schist Belt features multiple VMS-style prospects along its 100-kilometer strike length, including Sunshine, Snow, Nora, Shungnak, and BT. Neighboring deposits like Smucker (Teck) and Sun (Valhalla Metals) affirm the district’s regional potential. Ten of Trilogy’s VMS prospects have been drill tested with encouraging results.

Meanwhile, the Bornite Carbonate Sequence extends 16 kilometers along the Cosmos Hills and hosts additional targets such as Pardner Hill and Aurora Mountain. These zones show strong signs of copper and cobalt mineralization and were partially tested during the Kennecott era, suggesting significant room for expansion.

Together, these assets form the foundation of a multi-decade development and discovery platform in one of the most prospective undeveloped mining districts in North America.

Market Opportunity

Trilogy Metals is poised to benefit from long-term structural demand for copper and other critical minerals essential to electrification, energy infrastructure, and clean technologies. Copper, in particular, is expected to see major supply shortfalls due to underinvestment and accelerating demand from power grids, EVs, and data centers.

According to a Grand View Research report, the global copper market is projected to grow from $241.88 billion in 2024 to $339.95 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 6.5%, driven by the energy transition and rising infrastructure investments.

Trilogy’s Arctic and Bornite projects are strategically located in Alaska, a top-tier mining jurisdiction with strong permitting frameworks and growing federal and state-level support, including recent executive orders streamlining approvals for the Ambler Access Project. The company also maintains a $50 million shelf prospectus and an active $25 million ATM equity program to fund future development.

Leadership Team

Tony Giardini, President and Chief Executive Officer, leads Trilogy Metals with extensive executive experience in the mining industry. He previously served as President of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd., and as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Kinross Gold Corporation. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Placer Dome Inc. and KPMG. Mr. Giardini is both a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant.
